As a Voice and Connected Devices (VCD) Tester, you will be vital in guaranteeing the quality of our voice-enabled applications across platforms like Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Sonos, and potentially other emerging voice assistants. Your role will expand as we incorporate more voice technologies and automation into our testing processes.
You will work collaboratively with our Software Developers, Product Managers, and the VCD team, focusing on both manual and automated testing. Your work will contribute significantly to the development of reliable, high-quality voice experiences for our users.

This role will be predominantly be remote but connected to one of our UK offices where occasionally travel will be expected.
Key Responsibilities and tasks
- Take ownership of the Daily monitoring of production station tests, tracking and progressing any issues found, while maintaining constant communication with both the internal team and third parties.
- Develop and execute comprehensive tests for voice-enabled applications across multiple platforms including Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and potential upcoming voice assistants.
- Be actively involved in the development and implementation of automated testing as part of our new CI/CD process, introducing and evolving the QA process for the team.
- Ensure high-quality and consistent voice experiences across different platforms and devices.
- Take full ownership of the Quality Assurance (QA) process, from devising the test plan to executing functional and non-functional tests.
- Collaborate effectively with both internal and external development teams to ensure the delivery of superior and reliable voice applications.
- Identify, document, and communicate defects and issues promptly and clearly using Jira.
- Establish and maintain a robust QA governance protocol to guarantee extensive test coverage throughout all stages of development.
- Stay updated with the latest voice technology trends and incorporate relevant innovations into our products.
- Lead initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of our voice-enabled platforms, aligning them with our overall business goals and customer expectations.
- Evaluate and evolve our current QA process to ever improve its coverage, efficiency and capability.
Years of experience are less important to us, we are not looking to tick boxes with this role, and we are open to looking at candidates from all backgrounds. It would be great if you had some of the below:
- Experience in using voice-enabled applications, such as Alexa Skills or Google Actions.
- Enthusiastic about implementing change and delving into the potential for automation around smart speakers and other connected devices.
- Logically minded, capable of thinking outside the box and diving deep into an issue to identify the most likely cause of a problem.
- Able to take ownership and represent the QA department within the VCD team, advocating for best practices and approach.
- Able to enjoy both the variable day to day tasks as well as the persistent tests required to maintain the product.
- Familiarity with the CI/CD processes including the use of Github Actions is a plus.
- Familiar with AWS CloudWatch is a plus.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies is a plus.
- Experience in crafting documentation and creating reports to effectively communicate test results to stakeholders.
