Our current portfolio includes a diverse range of projects, including novel suspension systems for military applications, innovative aircraft seating systems, a ‘last mile’ 18 tonne electric delivery truck and the design and delivery of a new hydraulic control system for a hypercar.
We are looking for a Purchasing Manager to maintain positive relationships with all suppliers and coordinate with internal teams and departments regarding their supply needs, so as to ensure the correct parts to the required quality are sourced and delivered on time and at the required cost. To also oversee a small purchasing and logistics team in their daily activities and provide guidance on purchasing, stock control and supply chain tasks.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and implement suitable purchasing strategies in support of the long term business growth aspirations.
- Manage daily purchasing activities, supervise and support team members and allocate tasks appropriately.
- Responsible for leading/supporting supplier relations and negotiations as required to ensure the business requirements are met in terms of time, quality and cost.
- Drafting and negotiation of key supplier contracts and terms.
- Ensure all purchased items meet the required specifications and standards prescribed.
- To supply cost estimates where appropriate for potential new business opportunties/projects, quantifying base assumptions used.
- To develop continuous improvement culture by working together with engineers/business development to ensure most timely and cost effective introduction of new parts/products/services
You:
- Management/supervisory experience within a batch prototype or production environment.
- Preferred background would be from the motorsport, R & D or automotive industry.
- Good working knowledge of relevant manufacturing procedures.
- Good understanding of commercial contract terms and conditions.
- Ability to adapt to and influence change within a team.
- Understanding of IFS business system an advantage.
- Able to understand basic engineering processes and information.
- CIPS qualified or working towards this.
