Nuclera is a venture-backed, founder-driven biotech company headquartered in Cambridge, UK with significant operations in Boston, USA. The company’s mission is to make biology accessible to everyone through desktop bioprinting. We are beginning this mission by making proteins accessible through the launch and on-going development of our eProtein desktop bioprinting platform. eProtein promises to be a breakthrough protein printing technology that brings rapid prototyping to the life science benchtop and accelerates the drug discovery process. We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Purchase Coordinator to support our procurement activities for both engineering and general purchases. The ideal candidate will have experience in coordinating the purchase of goods and services for a company and will have a strong background in engineering procurement. You will be responsible for working closely with various departments to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and services required to support their operations under the guidance of the Procurement Manager.
This role will suit an individual who has purchasing experience within an engineering field, but we are open to supporting a driven candidate with the right ambitions and personality that fits in well with the team. If you have worked in a fast-paced start-up biotech or engineering sector, that would be beneficial.
About the role:
- Coordinate procurement activities for both engineering and general purchases in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Act as a liaison between departments and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers to ensure the best value for the company.
- Place, monitor and track purchase orders and delivery schedules to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
- Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including invoices, purchase orders, and shipping documentation.
- Collaborate with the Procurement Manager to develop and implement purchasing policies and procedures.
- Communicate with departments to understand their requirements and make recommendations on the best procurement strategies.
- Continuously review and evaluate supplier performance and negotiate better terms and conditions with suppliers.
- Stay informed about market trends and new products to ensure that the company remains competitive in procurement activities.
Requirements
Essential:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in procurement, with a focus on engineering procurement.
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes, policies, and regulations.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Desirable:
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with procurement management software (Coupa) is a plus.
