Purchasing Assistant 

Part-time, Monday to Friday

Our client is seeking an experienced Purchasing Assistant to join their growing, dynamic manufacturing business based in Cheadle Heath (SK3). 

The overall purpose of the Purchasing Assistant role. 

The Purchasing Assistant will be responsible for all purchasing and goods in/out of raw materials and products. The role will involve being methodical, organized and hands-on to ensure the smooth flow of materials and products into and out of the business.  Being computer literate is a pre-requisite as is maintaining and developing company ethos, reputation and values. 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and develop the clients ethos, reputation and values.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Negotiate prices and terms of sale with vendors and suppliers.
  • Maintain records of purchases, pricing, and other important data on the SAGE accounting system
  • Monitor inventory levels and order necessary supplies.
  • Research potential vendors and suppliers.
  • Process purchase orders in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all orders are accurate and delivered on time.

Skills and experience required: 

  • Purchase items from requisitions and job cards.
  • Ideally conversant with SAGE 50 accounting software. 
  • Able to negotiate prices within given budgets. 
  • Able to understand drawings, preferably an understanding of wood cabinetry and timber products. 
  • Receive and quality check goods into the warehouse. 
  • Identify each product and label it as stock or with the project number and locate in the warehouse ready for dispatch or move it to the relevant department for storage. 
  • Updating the project management systems with the goods in details. 
  • Organising goods ready for dispatch. 
  • Planning and arranging logistics for shipping all necessary products to site within budgets. 
  • Coordinating multidrop deliveries. 
  • Arranging and booking in next-day carriers. Including using the online portal and printing off all necessary paperwork. 

Your contract and benefits on starting: 

  • Salary £24K per annum FTE (Pro-rata £12.50 per hour)
  • Part-time, Monday to Friday. 20 hours per week.
  • 29 Days holiday (pro-rata), including Bank Holidays. 
  • Company-based stakeholder pension. 
  • Work location: Company premises (on-site parking).
