Job description

Major Recruitment are currently working in partnership with a leading world wide manufacturing company based in the Rotherham area who have been established since 1843. They are looking to expand their team on a permanent basis with an experienced Purchasing Lead.

The successful candidate will be responsible for Responsible for all Procurement activities within scope of Inventory, Supplier, Purchasing Agents, New Product Development, Trials and purchase of semi-finished goods and consumables.

Responsibilities of a Purchasing Lead:

  • Liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, and relevant internal / external departments
  • Identify, develop, and manage effective relationships with existing and potential suppliers of to meet the established cost, quality, and delivery targets
  • Forecast price trends and their impact on future activities by following the PIR protocols linked to variances in our Protrack Productivity systems
  • Develop, implement, and manage system to evaluate, monitor and report a supplier performance scorecard
  • Adhere to established company policies, procedures, terms and conditions and legal matters that affect purchasing policies
  • Develop strategies to deliver cost savings and ensure supplier performance targets are met or exceeded. Example Supplier Consolidation
  • Sourcing, quoting, sampling in support of NPD process and Productivity Engineer
  • Undertake value for money reviews of existing contracts and arrangements
  • Manage Poor performing Suppliers and obtain recovery plans in support of schedule compliance

Skills and requirements:

· At least 5 years in a Supply Chain/Purchasing Lead role.

· Excellent communication skills at all levels

· Understanding of cost accounting

· Working knowledge and understanding of ERP/MRP systems (SAP) and their use in a manufacturing environment.

· Strong Knowledge of Microsoft Systems including word, excel, PowerPoint, Access.

· Ability to multitask and a strong attention to detail

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience in Supply chain within a Management Position
  • SAP E03 competent
  • APICS certification preferred
  • Ariba Procurement module user

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £36,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
