Elevation are delighted to be partnering with a well-known manufacturer in the Rotherham area to find their Purchasing Lead.
This is a key position for the business and involves having full responsibility for the purchasing across all direct and indirect categories for the Group. Working closely with the Category Managers and Supply Chain teams, you will be responsible for all purchasing activities across inventory, suppliers, and NPD, among others. Your role will be to negotiate price with existing suppliers, ensure excellent delivery and service, negotiate and manage credit terms and procurement activities for all aspects of all raw materials, component and commodities.
The role is ideally 5 days on site, but allowances for hybrid can be discussed. The role is paying £40,000 - £45,000 and is a truly fantastic opportunity for someone to take on this autonomous, business critical position.
Responsibilities include:
- Identify, develop, and manage effective relationships with existing and potential suppliers to meet the established cost, quality, and delivery targets
- Working closely with Material and Production Planning team to establish and reduce the risk of material shortages and ensure stock levels and replenishment are monitored and sufficient
- Sourcing, quoting, sampling in support of NPD process and Productivity Engineer
- Drive the global procurement strategy throughout the department, aiming to reduce lead times and inventory capital
- Be the connection between suppliers, manufacturers, and relevant internal / external departments
- Review processes and monitor data within the system to ensure transparency across all departments
- Working with the Category Managers on supplier agreements, reporting on supplier performance and suggest amendments and improvements where necessary
- Develop strategies to deliver cost savings and ensure supplier performance targets are met or exceeded
- Take responsibility for forecasting price trends and their impact on future purchasing activities
- Identify and manage poor performing suppliers and obtain recovery plans in support of schedule compliance
- Develop and implement an escalation process for Supply Chain Team
- Manage and develop Purchasing Assistant
Ideal candidate:
- Previous experience in an autonomous Purchasing Management role or Supply Chain Manager position that has been heavily purchasing-focussed ESSENTIAL
- Manufacturing experience ESSENTIAL
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to influence both internally and externally
- Experience with SAP is highly desirable
- Strong Excel knowledge and ability essential
- Experience of small team management ideal
