An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Respiratory Physiotherapist to join the Pennine Lung Service. We are a multi-disciplinary team specialising in the treatment and management of patients with respiratory conditions within Oldham.
The Pennine Lung Service works across both the hospital site and in the community,, assessing and treating patients in a variety of settings, including hospital wards, patient homes and specialist clinics. The post holder with work within the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Service providing exercise and self-management education to service users. There will also be the opportunity to work within the bronchiectasis clinic and assist in the setting up of a new innovative breathlessness service. The post holder will be given the opportunity to work alongside the Home Oxygen Service completing oxygen assessments and implementing a treatment regime.
This is an exciting opportunity which would suit an established Band 5 or current Band 6 Physiotherapist, providing the opportunity to expand your knowledge and skills within the respiratory field, whilst working alongside a supportive MDT including Occupational Therapists, Specialist Nurses and Assistant Practitioners.
- To assist in the running of Pulmonary Rehabilitation Classes, undertaking assessments and work towards achieving accreditation of the service.
- The post holder will assist the pulmonary rehabilitation lead in developing and running the pulmonary rehabilitation service in order to increase accessibility and capacity and maintain high standards and outcomes.
- To assist in the running of bronchiectasis clinic alongside the Band 7 Physiotherapist, completing Hypertonic Saline challenges and the provision of nebulised antibiotics.
- To assist in the setting up of the new innovative breathlessness service and be an integral part of the treatment of patients with chronic breathlessness.
- To take part in co-ordinating the provision of a home care service for the care of patients with an exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and long-term support of this client group.
- Be responsible for determining a clinical diagnosis, develop, deliver, implement, evaluate and modify individualised treatment programmes.
- To ensure appropriate pathways of care and communication via liaison and referral to other agencies as required for all respiratory conditions stipulated in the service contract.
- To ensure compliance with Professional policies, National and local guidelines and Trust policies, procedures and protocols
- Ensure patients are discharged home with the appropriate treatment package according to operational guidelines.
