Introduction to the role
Farshore is looking for an enthusiastic administrator with some previous experience to join its market leading licensed publishing team. This is a role for a proactive individual to support the whole team with key administrative tasks across print and digital books and offers a great opportunity to begin a career in publishing. The Publishing Assistant will handle a busy and varied workload and is a pivotal role in the brands team which operates across design and editorial. Farshore’s mission is to make every child a proud reader through a broad and diverse portfolio of books that offers multiple ways into the joy of reading. The Farshore list boasts the biggest brands in the world such as Minecraft, Mr. Men Little Miss, Winnie-the-Pooh, Pokémon and Paw Patrol.
Key tasks and accountabilities
Supply commissioning paperwork to external parties and arrange timely payments using the required templates and systems
Manage reprints for the brands team, updating imprint details or making corrections to InDesign files if needed
Check and approve e-Books against the print edition
Answer customer enquiries for our books and manage fan mail, as required
Arrange contractual author, contributor, and licensor copies
Compile sales reports on an ad hoc basis for Publishers
Provide ongoing search engine optimisation (metadata) support, and regularly assist with title specific metadata updates
Take minutes for key team and divisional meetings, including scheduling, acquisition and sales sign off meetings
Co-ordinate sales catalogue and rights guide entries on behalf of the brands team, collating copy and managing the critical path
Ensure all the relevant HC systems and processes are used and understood to meet the wider business goals
Proofreading frontlist titles as required, with the opportunity to assist with creation of frontlist titles as time goes on
Experience and skills required
Demonstrable administrative experience in a similar role
Confident using MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Acrobat
Strong organisational skills
Strong time management and troubleshooting skills
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Adaptability to new systems
Accuracy and a keen eye for detail
