We are looking for 3 people to start the Public Health Apprenticeship, which includes opportunities to work in public health and study for a degree in public health at the same time.
The apprenticeship lasts for 3 years and 3 months; Public Health Apprentices’ will gain experience working in three Council public health teams (Slough, Bracknell Forest and Windsor & Maidenhead). Each area has its own public health challenges and opportunities. You will combine work-based learning and study for a public health degree that is funded as part of your apprenticeship in addition to a salary. Upon completion you will also have met the requirements to qualify for the professional UK Public Health Registration (UKPHR) as a Public Health Practitioner.
So that you can study we will make sure that you have protected time for learning within your working week.
We will provide you with a public health mentor to support you in developing your public health career, progressing on your degree course and completing the portfolio to qualify as a Public Health Practitioner. You will also be supported by a line manager, who will help you settle into the Council and look after you as an employee. Our 3 Apprentices will be invited to participate in our local support group including all the mentors, Apprentices and Line Managers to help you share ideas, problem solve and get the most from your time with us.
These posts are offered on a full-time basis (37 hours) but for those not able to work full time, we would ask for a minimum commitment of 30 hours per week. Flexible working hours are available.
The annual (yearly) starting salary for these posts is £25,159 per year (inclusive of London Weighting).
To be eligible to apply you must not:
- have any Degree or Masters
- have or be in the process of completing a professional registration such as UKPHR practitioner, nutrition, etc
- be employed by Bracknell Forest, Slough or Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Council in public health
Closing date for applications: Monday 3rd July 2023
Interviews will be held in person on 12th and 13th July 2023 between 9am and finishing no later than 5pm at Bracknell Forest Council, Time Square, Market St, Bracknell RG12 1JD. Interviews will last up to 45 minutes and if invited to interview, we will try to be flexible in offering you a suitable time.
