An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced Counsellor/ Psychologist/ Psychotherapist to join the Staff Psychological Support Service at The Royal Marsden Hospital. Although this is a full-time post, we are open to a flexible working pattern between 3-5 days per week. We are particularly looking for clinicians who practice from a systemic, CBT/3rd wave or integrative approach. Please state in the application form your therapeutic modality.

Essential criteria:
For counsellor/ psychotherapist with dual health care training:
- NMC Registered Nurse RN 1 OR Allied Health Professional OR Medicine/ Paramedic professional qualification AND PGDip training in counselling or psychotherapy
- AND Accredited with BACP or other recognised counselling professional
For counsellor/ psychotherapist with no dual health care training:
- Masters level training in counselling or psychotherapy
- AND Accredited with BACP or other recognised counselling professional
For counselling/ clinical psychologist with experience of working in an acute health care setting:
- Post-Graduate Doctoral level training in Clinical/ Counselling Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996), accredited by the BPS

The post holder will provide a high quality psychological service for all members of staff within the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. This will include short term therapy, facilitation of reflective groups, and critical incident stress management. In addition, the post holder will be involved in facilitating workshops, teaching and writing psycho-education material that will help the hospital staff to cope with the emotional challenges of being involved in the care and treatment of patients with cancer. The role provides both preventative and responsive psychological interventions.

2.1 Participate in the promotion of the Staff Psychological Support Service across the organisation to maximise awareness and to ensure equity of access for all in the organisation.
2.2 Develop relationships across the hospital and wards to provide opportunities for informal/ ad hoc psychological interventions.
2.3 Maintain a physical 1:1 therapy environment that is therapeutically appropriate.
2.4 Provide short term confidential therapy for employees of the Royal Marsden who self-refer; or are referred by Occupational Health.
2.5 Assess all individuals who come for psychological therapy, referring on to Occupational Health, General Practitioner, other external services if appropriate.
2.6 To practice from a systemic/ CBT/ 3rd wave or integrative approach (please specify in your application form your modality of practice)
2.7 Provide a critical incident stress management service for clinical teams and individuals as appropriate following adverse events such as traumatic patient deaths, management of complex clinical situation, etc.
