Nelson House is a modern and spacious 28 bed locked rehabilitation recovery service for men with mental illness. By having a focus on the development of skills for independence the unit provides a positive step for patients, many whose next step will be living in the community. It helps patients learn new ways of managing their conditions and symptoms with the aim of helping to prevent any future relapse. For patients with challenging behaviours, Nelson House helps them to learn skills to change their response to anxiety and distress. You will be responsible for leading the assessment and treatment arm of the service (14 beds) which we have recently established. We also plan to recruit junior medical support as the service develops further.
The unit has experienced staff including a committed nursing and HCA team, a well-established clinical psychologist with assistant, an occupational therapy team to provide a wide range of activities for patients. We are also embarking on a piece of work to get AIMS Rehab accreditation.
We are looking for highly motivated individual who is dedicated to provide high quality clinical care for patients referred to and using the services of the hospital. Consultant who works closely with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure that clients receive a holistic and person-centric care and treatment programme based on the recovery model. The post-holder will hold a CCST / CCT (or equivalent) in General Adult or Forensics and will have experience of working in inpatient settings with people with significant mental health difficulties.
This position would suit a newly qualified Consultant who would have monthly supervision with the Medical Director, Dr Joseph Rodrigues. We also provide mentorship to consultants, so come and join our team of highly experienced clinicians in this exciting phase of our journey to provide top quality, innovative, evidence based and collaborative care to our patients.
