We are a low secure unit for males with mental illnesses and personality disorders. Located in Gainsborough in Lincolnshire, the hospital has 28 beds to support those who are detained under the Mental Health Act. We pride ourselves on excellent working relationships with patients, families and external agencies to support collaborative working and ensure clear communication throughout the care pathway.
The successful candidate with benefit from the support of a diverse and extensive MDT including Ward Managers, Charge Nurses, Specialty Doctors, Support Workers, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Activity Coordinators, the Senior Management Team and discharge co-ordinators from our local NHS trusts.
Our hospital has been rated ‘Good’ in the most recent CQC inspection.
The service consists of two wards:
- Lancaster – 14-bedded ward for males who require stabilisation and support to decrease their levels of challenging behaviour
- Scampton – 14-bedded ward providing continuing care with a focus on rehabilitation, community reintegration and preparing the person to move further along the care pathway, or to community living
We are seeking a full time Forensic Consultant Psychiatrist who will work alongside a dedicated Speciality Doctor and lead a full multi-disciplinary team.
- Previous Consultant experience in a Forensic setting is essential
- You will fulfil the role of Responsible Clinician to patients
- You must hold a CCST/CCT or equivalent in the relevant areas of psychiatry and have experience of working in inpatient settings with people with significant mental health difficulties
- Valid GMC registration
- Evidence of post registration continuing professional development
- A positive attitude and commitment to change, improvement and quality
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
- Excellent knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice
- The post-holder will participate in a 1 in 7 non- residential on call rota
