The hourly range reflects the minimum and maximum target for the position at the time of posting. Within the range, exact compensation will be determined based on education/training, skill set, experience, and other organizational needs.

SUMMARY
Serves as the plant’s Occupational Health Technician. Administers Workers’ Compensation claims and directly manages the Company return-to-work programs. Administers emergency medical treatment in cases of accidents or illnesses. Assists in the management of employee hearing conservation and wellness programs that are designed to enhance employees’ health and welfare. Maintains confidential, accurate, up-to-date medical and Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) records for the location. Works closely with the plant general management taking a proactive approach towards providing a safe working environment.
NATURE AND SCOPE
Position reports directly to the Human Resource Manager, who in turn reports to the Plant Manager. The incumbent works closely with the Safety & Security Manager in carrying out the Company’s “key element” approach towards safety management at the location. The incumbent works closely with the location Human Resource professional on sensitive health care issues, job placement, and reasonable medical accommodation on a case-by-case basis.
Works closely with the contract nursing services. Promotes a positive relationship with the contract nursing services for the plant.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Promotes and adheres to company safety work rules and regulations.- Administers health and wellness programs to achieve set goals and improvement in overall health and wellness of all employees
Obtains baseline vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, respirations, etc.)
Attends appointments with injured workers.
Administers plant DOT drivers program.
Collaborates with contracted nurses and claims managers to help coordinate workers’ compensation benefits.
Provides first-aid for work-related injuries and illnesses.
Prepares all written and verbal communication that may or may not be confidential pertaining to the medical department, including: employee education in health and safety procedures, Workers’ Compensation claims procedures.
Administers Drug and Alcohol screening, Hearing Conservation, etc.
Assists with human resource and safety functions as needed.
Communicates any problems or changes in department to supervisor and appropriate personnel.
Attends and participates in all annual, departmental, and job specific required training and monthly informational meetings.
Understands and adheres to the concepts and techniques of the quality process in order to ensure a quality operation.
Keeps area clean and orderly in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
Helps to build and promote a strong “Teamwork” environment in each individual work group, the Factory, and the Company.
Participates in continuous improvement process.
Must participate in and complete all required training.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Provides a current medical record system to point out individual health and safety problems. Completes necessary reports to State and Federal agencies to comply with current laws and regulations.
Assists the Safety & Security Manager with the facilitation of safety and health program processes, including but not limited to hearing conservation, personal protective equipment, and OSHA reporting.
Assist in the plants’ “return-to-work” process, including the identification of “light duty” positions to ensure reasonable accommodation is made for disabilities.- Conducts periodic training including but not limited to First Aid, CPR, wellness, blood borne pathogens and other related areas.
Provides emergency medical treatment of industrial injuries and illnesses.- Maintains an adequate supply of medical, safety and health supplies.
- Observes employees for unsafe behavior and behavioral trends.
- Administers Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, and Leave Of Absence programs.
REPRESENTATION
Must provide professional representation of McCain mission and values both inside and outside the organization.- Must adhere to the McCain Code of Conduct.

SCOPE OF AUTHORITY- Responsibility to monitor work areas, watch for suspicious behavior and report any concerns regarding unidentified visitors and/or unauthorized personnel.
- Authority to question and take appropriate measures regarding the safety of themselves, other employees, products, and equipment.
Responsibility of maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout the food processing facility, especially where any raw or finished product is produced.- Authority to report and/or eliminate hazards to the safety of the food that is produced in the facility.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED required. One year experience in related field or capacity as it related to occupational health. Valid EMT, CNA, NAC, HCA, or any other applicable Washington State DOH certificate or license required.LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
SPECIAL TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Must maintain a valid applicable Washington State DOH certificate or license.
