Hybrid agile working, with time in the office based in Leatherhead.
This role requires a high degree of creativity, software expertise and design ability across all the components that come together to form a proposal, as well as a willingness to support colleagues in respect of wider communications
activity during proposals downtime
. Proposals can be fast and furious with challenging deadlines for graphic designers, so a ‘get the job done’ attitude is a must.
The best candidate for this position will enjoy ‘getting stuck in’ and have a flair for visual communication, remain current with trends and new technology, and be proactive in upskilling and development with support from the business.
We are looking for a collaborative spirit who enjoys ownership, takes on feedback and ensures the original brief is fulfilled. The role will be focused on support the capture team within our Projects and Programmes business, but will align closely with the communications and marketing team to afford opportunities to support regional and global deliverables and initiatives.
Examples of deliverables
Individual graphics to be exported for others to place within their documentation.
Entire brochure style documents in either printed or electronic format (and sometimes both)
Designing wraparound covers, tabs and graphical flysheets, in a timely fashion to be printed externally
Keeping the look and feel consistent from the cover, throughout the document, and onto the presentation
Be prepared to work on other presentation materials, perhaps wall posters and small tangible items to both aid the presentation and leave behind for the client to remember us by.
2. Core Responsibilities and Duties
The Proposals
Graphic
Designer will:
Create graphics for proposals documents, executive summaries (brochure and/or interactive format), design (for print) wraparound front covers, tabs, graphical flysheets. Responsible for the consistent look and feel of the entire suite from the Proposal document itself to any Presentation materials required (PowerPoint, background and template to match the rest of the proposal)
Communicate your capacity and your timeline
Meet deadlines and ensure deliverables are top-quality
Ensure source files are maintained and organised, so other designers can pick up and work on them at short notice if needed.
Take direction and collaborate with other designers as and when necessary, particularly on larger bids.
Communicate with other designers to maximize creativity – there is the opportunity to hook into our global network of designers
Meet with subject matter experts to understand their objectives. Create or incorporate illustrations, photographs, iconography, etc. to ensure the graphic communicates well.
Review final productions for errors and ensure that final deliverables reflect the authors’ original requests
Ensure consistent use of the KBR branding guidelines
Learn and adapt to use new and developing software, platforms and techniques
Be a team player for Proposals, supporting the Communications Team where needed. There may also be the opportunity to get involved in design for social media and other marketing deliverables.
3. Qualifications, Experience and Skills
Essential Experience & Skills
Q
ualification in graphic design and/or 3 years’ design experience in a fast-paced proposals environment
Highly creative with the ability to create designs from scratch
Great time management and multitasking skills
Knowledge of how to apply consistent branding, selecting the most appropriate software(s) for the task
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop), Microsoft Office – especially PowerPoint, and with the interest and adaptability to learn and use other design and multimedia software programs
Deadline focused. A self-starter – and finisher – possessing a keen attention to detail
Excellent organisational skills and be highly motivated to produce great design work to the best of your ability, every time
Knowledge of design for print and the ability to make good relationships with both the internal copy shop and external commercial printers/other suppliers
You may have the opportunity to use photography skills if you have them
