- Grant and Proposal Writer In this role, you will have the opportunity to use your expertise in grant writing to secure funding for our projects and initiatives. As a Grant and Proposal Writer, you provide strategic and tactical support to help win new business. You actively participate in the proposal management project lifecycle and co-author content for proposals, oral presentations, and other proposal collateral. - Position Requirements:
- Post secondary education in Language, Communication, Journalism, Political Science or Economics is preferred.
- At least 2 years Grant or proposal writing experience is preferred.
- Ability to travel to work on-site as required.
- Proven excellent writing and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills an asset, Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- Ability to work well in both an independent capacity and in a team environment.
- Help create presentations used for sales, conferences, or internal purposes.
- Strong business acumen
- Organized, detail-oriented and highly deadline-driven
- Responsibilities, not limited to:
- Identify new funding sources and conduct prospect research.
- Identifying relevant grant opportunities from foundations, government, corporations and other funding sources.
- Research through a variety of online sources, market reports, stats can, academic publications, client and organizational data and reports, and government policy and initiatives to develop a coherent narrative for a funding proposal.
- Write drafts and/or review business plans and/or formal application files
- Working with internal stakeholders to write grants, as they become available.
- Maintaining an understanding of our activities/operations and the grants that align with these.
- Writing effective proposals and grant applications that display exceptional attention to detail and captivating storytelling.
- Tracking, developing, and submitting required progress reports as per the grant application requirements.
- Follow up with grant-making organizations during their review of a submitted grant application to supply additional supportive material if requested.
- Maintain and implement funding calendar activities, including cultivation and reporting activities.
- In collaboration with program manager, develop and implement monitoring procedures to track grant implementation.
- Ability to multitask and manage several grant submissions or reports at once while working with various levels of staff to complete grant-related items.
- Participate in fundraising activities, staff, and department meetings.
- Meet with prospective donors to discuss grant opportunities, advocacy efforts, and potential donations/gifts.
- Create and design compelling proposals and cases for support documents in collaboration with development staff, ensuring consistent messaging about Omnia and its projects.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned.
- Attend meetings and events as required.
