PROJECT MANAGER AND PROPOSAL WRITER
Contract position to March 31, 2024, with possible extension
Location – AAFS Administration Office, Wauzhushk Onigum Nation
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Project Manager and Proposal Writer (PMPW) is a full-time temporary contract position. The PMPW is responsible for research and writing proposals on behalf of AAFS to ministry programs within federal (ISC) and provincial governments. PMPW will work towards building healthier communities, through local democratic system for setting priorities, arriving at equitable compromises, and taking action. Furthermore, the PMPW supports community needs and interest in social, cultural, economics, and environment affairs. The PPL will engage in proposal writing & will perform activities such as providing support, research, and information to a wide range of community stakeholders that include our First Nation communities within AAFS catchment. This position reports to the Director of Strategic Planning and Policy.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-Secondary Education in area of Finance, Accounting, Communications or Public Administration, Economics or CPA with minimum 3 Years of experience in community-based models, however, a combination of related education, experience and skills may be considered
- Thorough knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act and Regulations (CYFSA), particularly in the application of Part IV, Section 80 relating to Customary Care
- Thorough knowledge of Customary Care and philosophy of service development and delivery, the First Nation communities, family structure, and local customs and traditions
- Thorough knowledge of the structure and operations of Grand Council Treaty #3 and the First Nations of Northern Treaty #3 including tribal and external services and services agencies
- Ability to take direction and work within agency philosophy, mandate, policies and procedures
- Ability to provide research, analysis, and recommendations for development and/or refinement of policy and procedure, best practices options, protocols, guidelines and program development
- Ability to design, plan, and conduct qualitative and quantitative research projects and activities
- Ability to design, implement and manage social research and evaluation projects (with other staff or colleagues when required) performing clerical and technical planning working, and to perform all duties with minimal supervision
- Ability to Create budgets for various events during the year with senior management such as gatherings conferences, Annual General Meetings, Pow-Wows, etc. for Executive and Board review
- Excellent planning, time management, analytical, assessment, interview, consultation, report writing, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint programs
- Strong commitment to helping Anishinaabe children and their families by providing services in ways that respect Anishinaabe cultural and spiritual practices
- Committed to ensure highest level of confidentiality at all times
- Ability to flex daily work hours as determined by the Director of Strategic Planning and Policy
- Knowledge of the communities, family structure, as well as the First Nation customs and traditions
- Must possess a valid Ontario G Driver’s Licence, be willing to travel and provide a Driver’s Abstract; and
- Ability to speak Anishinaabemowin is preferred and a definite asset.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normally performed in a typical interior office environment generally working at a set schedule of standard business hours, located in the offices of AAFS. The position will require sitting for long periods of time at a desk, perhaps sharing a workspace with other colleagues. The incumbent will be required to work in an atmosphere adhering to strict deadlines and at times consisting of repetitive duties that may involve a computer, website requirements. Periodic travel is also required.

Salary Range: $78,276 – $96,000 per annum
Benefits: AAFS offers Extended Health, Dental, AD&D and Group Life benefits to this contract position after one month of employment as well as voluntary participation in our Pension program.
