Job description
Job Description
At Inventories For You we provide high quality inventory and check out reports for a range of clients across Brighton and Hove.
The role of an inventory clerk is to visit rental properties before tenants move in, in order to compile an inventory report. An inventory report details the overall condition of the property, and itemises everything within (for example: flooring, walls, kitchen appliances, bathroom furnishings etc…).
It is also an inventory clerk’s job to visit properties after a tenancy has ended to compile a check out report. This involves recording the overall condition of the property, assessing the general cleanliness of the property, and checking for any damages that may have occurred during the tenancy. Check out reports are done whilst constantly referencing the original inventory report to determine whether the condition of the property has changed during the tenancy.
All reports are created using an app that can be downloaded on smartphones or tablets. This allows the clerk to add high quality photos to the reports that have a time and date stamp on them, which provides proof of condition should there be any disputes.
Other responsibilities of an inventory clerk include smaller jobs like collecting keys from letting agents or meeting tenants at properties who might be checking in or checking out.
The size of properties we work with varies massively from one bed studio flats all the way up to ten bed student houses! This means that every day is different and some days you can complete three or four reports, whilst others you may only get to do two or three.
The prices we pay our staff are based on the number of properties per day, that a staff member visits.
The busiest time of year for Inventories For You is summer or ‘student season’... Each year we carry out over a thousand reports on student properties alone and this year is set to be our biggest yet!
Person Specification
We are looking for individuals who are able to work using their own initiative, are good time keepers and have a minimum of GCSE English.
You will need to be physically fit as you will need to be able to walk up and down flights of stairs. You will be on your feet for a long period of time as some of the properties can be large.
Dress is casual but we would expect you to be presentable to meet letting agents / tenants if required.
The months of July, August and September are our busiest time of year and we would expect you to be available for five days of the week. Some weeks this will include weekend work.
There may be job opportunities after the summer period for the right person.
