Property Assistant
Fixed Term post for 12 months (fixed term due to funding) / 37hrs per week.
We are currently looking for someone with enthusiasm for property related legal work to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the provision of a cost effective legal property and conveyancing service to all Corporate Directorates, in accordance with UK legislation, the general property, planning and highways laws and assisting in the legal work associated with the property, highways and planning functions of the Authority.
The main duties of the post;
To assist in the drafting of legal documentation and processes in relation to acquisitions, sales, leases, licences, mortgages, charges and other property matters;
To undertake and prepare improvement grant titles, planning agreements and statutory notices relating to land.
To assist the Principal Solicitor (Property), the Solicitors and the Conveyancing Officers in the Legal Services Property Team with various aspects of their work in relation to property, planning and highways matters.
Drafting, perusing, amending and agreeing contracts, transfers, licences, deeds of grant and other agreements relating to the acquisition or disposal of interests in freehold land.
Drafting, perusing, amending and agreeing leases, agreements for lease and licences relating to the acquisition or disposal of interests in leasehold land.
Drawing up grazing licences, allotment agreements, memoranda of rent review, surrenders of leases, wayleaves, garden tenancies and other such in relation to property matters.
Undertaking land registry checks and submitting land registry applications on behalf of the Property team.
To assist when required with the mainstream functions of the Legal and Democratic Services Section
To undertake duties and responsibilities commensurate with such requirements as from time to time may be required across the range of divisional activities to include such special projects as may be required by the Principal Solicitor (Property) and Head of Legal and Democratic Services
You will have experience in/of;
Ideally you will have some experience of legal work, preferably property related.
An understanding and knowledge of property law / highways law / planning agreements would be advantageous.
Ideally you will have;
5 GCSE’s grade A to C or equivalent
A Legal, Property, Administration or Financial Qualification or suitable relevant experience
