About us
A proofreader with the ICA delivers a high-quality proofreading service for all ICA products and services, including training course manuals and other course materials, digital content, website pages, audio and video transcription. Where appropriate, develop short written content pieces, guides and reference materials for ICA’s Membership community.
Responsibilities
- Proofread and quality assure ICA training course and Member material to ensure content is grammatically correct, appropriately structured for learning, is accurate and meets academic referencing standards.
- Ensure all ICA content adheres to the ICA Style Guide.
- Create content for use by ICA learners and Members including reference materials, user guides and learning support materials.
- Support the creation and maintenance of high-quality qualification multiple choice assessments by writing, proofing and quality assuring question banks.
- At times, research and write short articles on a given topic, suitable for ICA audiences.
- Review and correct auto-generated transcriptions of audio and video content.
- Contribute ideas for new content and new topics to the Content Planning and Strategy meetings.
- Pro-actively manage workload, ensuring allocated tasks are completed on time with a high standard of accuracy.
Essential
- Exceptional English language skills.
- Proofreading to a very high standard, ideally gained through experience with academic, regulatory, legal, financial or other similar subject materials.
- Proficient in Microsoft office applications
- High attention to detail and high accuracy.
- Experience of researching and writing short, engaging and informative content that educates others.
- Ability to simplify complex written information and format it into plain English whilst retaining meaning and context.
- A self-starter, able to manage personal workloads and deliver to deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Comfortable working closely with other proofreaders and under the direction of editors, sharing ideas and best practice.
- Experience of proofing content for audiences for whom English is not a first language.
- Familiarity with proofing different forms of content written for different audiences, where tone of voice and style may vary.
- Experience of writing and/or proofing forms of learning assessment or evaluation; this could be forms of exam writing, question writing or checking, or other forms of assessment.
- Knowledge of accessibility considerations for written content or online/digital content.
- Familiarity with workflow management tools, in particular Kantata.
