The A Side: A Day in The Life
The intern will assist the Promotions team and 3rd Party agencies in all areas of Radio and TV promotion to ensure the smooth running of the department.
The B Side: Skills & Experience
Be Administrative
  • Assist the Promotions Department with general duties
  • To be the Promotion teams point of contact whilst the Pluggers are away from the building, for internal staff, media, artist managers and for the team when they are out of the office e.g. sending product, ordering cars as requested etc
  • Ensure the smooth running of the office, providing admin support to the team
  • Book cars for artists/hair and make-up/band/crew when required
  • Assist in collating weekly Promotions reports from the team where necessary
  • Add pluggers meetings into necessary diaries
  • Make sure all promotional activity & London gigs are in all the team members diaries
  • Order promotional stock on behalf of the team (CDs/ Merchandise/ Gig Tickets/ Vinyl), distribute and keep a note of quantities. Ensure the promotion cupboard is filled with relevant singles, albums, etc
  • Co-ordinate travel for department, artists, musicians, dancers, competition winners etc and provide full itineraries when necessary
  • To answer the phones for the department and take responsibility for the messages taken with the appropriate promotions’ person
  • Organising physical mailouts where needed and ensuring cupboards are full of all stationary for department at all times
  • To be the point person for several out of house promotional companies and assist in coordinating requests for relevant artists’ promo stock, tickets, and travel
  • To order gig tickets for the department/out of house pluggers
  • Keep ‘artist packs’ up to date with relevant Press Releases, Press Packs, audio, one sheets etc…
  • Keeping an up-to-date calendar of all promotional opportunities and collating document of all undertaken promotional activity
Be Operational
  • Assist the Director of Promotions & whole department when prepping for weekly label meetings
  • Deliver videos to Promostream and mail out to key media as and when required
  • To ensure all TV’s with artists are logged/recorded and links ordered at MUVER/Intelligent Media
  • To update and be the main point of contact for MPE on behalf of the promotions team
  • To ensure that the MPE mailing lists are kept up to date and to manage mailings to key media when requested both digitally and physically
  • Assist department with sending videos, lyrics, riders, equipment lists, label copy, release dates and forthcoming releases, publicity photos
  • Organising hair, make-up and stylists for artists as directed
  • To organise work permits when necessary for international artists
  • Co-ordinating guest lists for tours and showcases
  • Scanning Radiomonitor first thing each morning and reporting new plays from a selected few artists that will change weekly
Be Financial
  • To process Uniport invoices for various artists expenses such as travel on behalf of the department
  • Have a responsible attitude towards department expenditure and ‘value for money’
  • To maintain and manage promotional budgets with the relevant plugger and Director of promotions informed
  • Attending gigs/events during out of office hours
Person Specification
Necessary
  • Passionate about music with a desire to progress in the industry
  • A specific interest and knowledge to work within Promotions
  • Good general knowledge about Radio & TV in the UK (stations, shows, performances)
  • The ability to learn quickly
  • Self-motivated, hardworking and enthusiastic
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organised with the ability to keep calm under pressure
  • Flexible and able to prioritise own workload
  • Good computer skills i.e. Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word
Desirable

  • Experience of working in an office environment
  • Experience working in music (personal or professional)
  • Familiar with Uniport and Promostream
