Project Quality Engineer Team Leader
Location - UK
The Royal Navy’s Submarine Service has operated the UK’s Nuclear Deterrent every hour of every day for nearly 50 years, protecting our nation from the most extreme threats. We’re now recruiting extraordinary people to match this resolve by helping deliver the UK’s next generation of submarines - the Dreadnought Class.
Siemens Energy will provide essential power generation equipment to the customers who have formed an alliance to ensure the Dreadnought Programme delivers four submarines, at an estimated whole life cost of £31 billion, with the first one ready for patrol in the early 2030s.
A Snapshot of Your Day
As part of the Product Quality Document Control Team, as hardware is delivered, you will be responsible for coordinating and tasking a team that ensures that the accompanying Product Quality Documentation is reviewed against applicable acceptance standards for compliance as well as delivering Product Quality Documentation yourself.
How You will Make an Impact
- You will have responsibility for line management, tasking and coordinating the efforts of the Project Quality Engineers in pursuit of delivery of the full quality documentation pack.
- Setting Document Control tasks and priorities within a team of Project Quality Engineers. Support the Project Quality Engineer with issue resolution and escalation with Supply Chain colleagues where necessary.
- Ensuring that the team develop their knowledge, skills and training.
- Reviewing product Quality Documentation against applicable quality acceptance standards i.e. Manufacturing Inspection and Test Plans, engineer drawings, BS EN 10204, BS EN 17025
- Liaise internally and within the supply chain to ensure documentation is corrected to achieve the required quality acceptance standards.
- Responsible for coordination and tracking of documents with the Customer. This includes seeking, monitoring and recording all quality related exchanges related to the completion of pre-production documentation and any further documents that require Customer review or approval.
- Support Suppliers and the project team representatives to produce and issue Inspection Notifications, Technical Queries and concessions to the customer, and support witness activities.
- Support in reviews of Process Flow, First Article Inspections, Production Risk Assessments, Supply Chain Maps Manufacturing Inspection and Test documents generated by others.
- Produce Certificates of Conformance and Customer and specific documentation for the release of parts to Customers.
- Provide support to Quality Team Leader in the production of Quality Documentation Packs, responsible for filing, storage and support in the production of final documentation pack and final review
You Bring
- Ideally degree qualified in an Engineering based subject
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and auditing experience
- A Quality Assurance Qualification would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of Rolls-Royce GS3001 standard preferred however training can be provided.
- CQI Membership
- Welding and NDT experience would be advantageous
- Self-motivated,methodical, flexible and collaborative team worker
- Excellent attention to detail is essential.
- Experience of setting tasks for a team
