About the Role
The Operations/Projects Manager splits responsibilities between overseeing all operational aspects of Editorial (pre and post-acceptance) and Production systems. Management of Journal Office, and managing Editorial projects to support The Lancet's strategy. The role will focus on updating internal workflows and digitally transforming our systems.
Responsibilities
- Managing the Journal Office team, with the Team Leader/Deputy Ops Manager responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of JO
- Leading , coaching and developing the Team Leader
- Holding regular 1:1's with direct report and monthly team meetings with JO
- Identifying further improvements and influence future versions as needed.
- Identifying problems within the system and create solutions (short-term and long-term).
- Suggesting ways of working more efficiently for all working with the system
- Overseeing the creation and running of reports needed by Editorial and Production departments
- Assisting with the continuous evaluation of editorial and production systems and workflows
Requirements
- Experience managing people and projects within tight deadlines
- Able to be organized with experience using project tracking tools. Ability to work solely and take initiative.
- Be organized and able to work individually. Have the ability to adapt to the requirements of a busy team.
- Be a highly motivated self-starter who is relentless in driving for results. Have a demonstrated ability to work in a large matrix organization.
- Have an understanding of scientific publishing and peer review
