Glasgow Life is looking for a passionate Project Manager - Social Impact for a period of up to 24 months. This role will initially sit within the organising committee of the World Athletics Indoor Championships 2024 (WAIC24), leading on the events social impact strategy including: sustainability, equality, diversity and inclusion amongst others.
Your time will be split from leading on WAIC24 social impact programme to supporting the wider Glasgow Life events team with social impact initiatives and strategy development with a longer-term focus. From April 2024 – April 2025, this role will sit within the Glasgow Life events team full time as WAIC24 will come to a close.

Glasgow Life is the strategic lead for events in the city. The team invests to attract, create and grow major cultural and sporting events. We deliver high-profile events, including the Merchant City Festival and Glasgow Mela. Our team also organise the World Pipe Band Championships and Glasgow's winter events. We are preparing to deliver the inaugural UCI Cycling World Championships in 2023. We are also coordinating a programme of activities as the European Capital of Sport 2023. And we are building a team to deliver the World Athletics Indoor Championships 2024.Our team work on behalf of the Glasgow Events Board. We act as an initial point of contact for events coming to the city. This includes working with local, national and international partners to maximise the benefits of events to the city. We aim to position and promote Glasgow as a world-leading event destination. Events boost the city’s tourism economy and provide memorable moments.

The role
As Project Manager - Social Impact you’ll be an integral part of the team by leading on the development of our social impact programmes and initiatives. Reporting to the Championships Director and working alongside a newly formed local organising committee team.
The candidate
If you’re interested in joining us as a Project Manager - Social Impact, you’ll need:
A passion for creating positive social impacts- Professional working experience within an area of social impact, including: Sustainability; Equality, Diversity and Inclusion; Health and Wellbeing; Community Engagement; Sport Participation
- Solid project management experience, with a diverse range of stakeholders and interests
- Strong communication skills, including ability to prepare reports and briefings and deliver presentations to a range of stakeholders
- Excellent relationship management & influencing skills

Some of our roles are currently piloting hybrid working, with teams working between the office and home. Your line manager will agree these days with you. This balance enables you to continue much-needed collaborative working. When based in the office, you will work from Commonwealth House, Albion Street, Glasgow.
