Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) is the largest of Scotland’s seven regional transport partnerships. We run the Glasgow Subway, a host of specialist bus services and are responsible for delivering better public transport for all.
The Subway has been modernised twice in its history with the previous modernisation taking place in the late 1970s. We are currently undertaking a £288m transformational project which will result in the Subway being one of the most advanced systems in Europe. This is your opportunity to be part of the future of Subway, helping us to deliver the first full Unattended Train Operation (UTO) system in the UK.
As work on Subway Modernisation continues at pace this year, we are seeking a Project Manager who will work with external and internal stakeholders to develop and deliver signalling and telecoms systems that will ensure the Subway continues to deliver for its customers throughout this exciting and challenging time, while transforming our operating model to deliver the modernised Subway.
About the role
As a member of the Project Delivery Team, you will lead the delivery of projects focussing on the signalling and telecoms aspects of the modernisation and improvement programmes. You will be responsible for managing project delivery throughout all stages of the project lifecycle.
About you
The successful candidate will have relevant qualifications as well as experience in the best practice management of projects. Experience of introduction of communication based train control systems, other automated control systems or significant technological change within a railway environment or equivalent is desirable although not essential for your application to be considered.
You will be a highly motivated, reliable and capable individual with influencing skills. You will be experienced in negotiating with others to resolve competing priorities. You will use your influencing and communication skills to work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure operational, project and technical project outcomes are achieved.

The nature of this role may require you to work outwith normal office hours on occasion to support the operational requirements of the organisation. This may include occasional nightshift or weekend working.
You will be based at Broomloan Depot, Govan, Glasgow.
