Thames Water Utilites
Full Time Reading, England 75 GBP HOURLY Today
Job description

Who you’ll be working with

Our client, Thames Water is the UK’s largest water and wastewater company. They make a daily difference to 15 million customers by supplying 2.6 billion litres of water through 32,000 km of pipes, keeping taps flowing and toilets flushing.

What you’ll be doing

Thames Water is undergoing significant business transformation spanning all areas of the organisation and as such the environment is fluid, stimulating yet hugely rewarding. One such area of change is within the Operations business where we have recently insourced the Repair & Maintenance organisation for the Water Networks function. The Water Networks function manages all the work associated with maintaining and fixing the underground network of pipes that transport water to our customers.

A number of the initiatives to be delivered are in the “People” space and range from introducing a new incentive scheme, driving culture change, to designing and implementing new OD changes. The Project Manager (People) will direct all the “People” initiatives within the wider portfolio of change.

The role holder will need to be able to work with senior stakeholders across the business (both HR, Operations and Senior Managers), ensuring critical initiatives are well defined, justified and successfully managed to enable the realisation of the benefits stated in the charters.

What you should bring to the role

Self-motivation, drive and pragmatism are critical, as is a proven track record of successful delivery of People related initiatives, ideally within the utility industry.

You will have

  • A proven track record of successful delivery of People related initiatives
  • Management experience in matrix and virtual teams
  • Change management experience in multi-million-pound operational areas
  • Excellent internal and external stakeholder management and influencing skills to Director level

What’s in it for you?

This is initially estimated to be a 26-week assignment

Offering a daily rate between £500 & £600

This is a rare opportunity to make a real difference in a business and cultural transformation. You’ll be contributing to and be a leader in a program that is fundamental to the success of Thames Water and one of our key business priorities for the next AMP.

This is an exciting time for our business as a whole and the water industry. A backdrop of climate change and population growth is putting pressure on our existing water resources and in turn driving the need for a series of significant investments in our assets. The projects we will develop and deliver in the next 5 to 15 years, will leave a legacy for future generations across London, the Southeast, and the UK.

We’re proud of the positive ways of working we’ve adopted during the pandemic, creating a more flexible and dynamic environment so all our colleagues can thrive. For our office-based roles, we’re moving to a hybrid approach with various options for working from the home, office, and our sites.

We’re also proud to embrace and promote diversity and believe that creating a workforce that reflects the communities we serve will help us to thrive. We encourage applications from everyone and offer extra support for those who need it throughout the recruitment process.

Disclaimer: due to the high volume of applications we receive, we may close a vacancy earlier than the advertised date. This is so we can manage all the applications properly and give candidates a positive experience. Once closed, we can’t consider any further applications, so please submit your application as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
