About us

In February 2020, the Pro-Provost (London) Office was created, tasked with producing and delivering the London Framework, the strategic way of working for UCL’s relationships and engagement with London. Since this time the London Office has expanded and it now manages a number of core strategic partnerships in London. The London Office acts as a doorway between London partners and UCL, it brokers connections across departments and faculties and supports UCL in amplifying its London focused impact. Based within the Office of the UCL President & Provost, the Pro-Provost London Office is well placed to support UCL’s engagement and activity in London. Professor Alan Thompson is Pro-Provost (London) and is the strategic lead for UCL in London, connecting with priority audiences and engaging industry, partners and supporters in mutually beneficial relationships with UCL. The small yet ambitious team within the Pro-Provost (London) Office seek to enhance engagement, coordinate relationships and enrich society whilst amplifying UCL’s impact in London.

About the role

This is an internal secondment role, available to current UCL staff only. Eligible UCL staff will have until Friday 2nd June to be considered for this role. This is a fixed-term role until 22nd December 2023 in the first instance. This role is eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 40% on site. This secondment opportunity has been created to support and advance the work of the Pro-Provost London Office and its activities, as well as provide senior support to the Head of Engagement and Operations (London). It will provide the postholder with experience managing core strategic partnerships, whilst developing internal and external relationship and coordination practices. The main duties will involve working with a defined number of strategic partners in London, leading engagement with those partners and coordinating activity resulting from the partnership. The role will involve working closely with members of the Pro-Provost (London) Office team as well as those in other areas of UCL. The postholder will also support the Head of Engagement and Operations (London) in the overall work of the London Office.

About you

You will have proven skills and ability working with a range of people at all levels, with excellent communication skills both in writing and in person. You will have experience working with senior groups and producing papers and reports for boards. You will have experience working with external stakeholders across different sectors and proven ability to gain the confidence of people, whilst producing outcomes. You will be a confident self-starter, ready to hit the ground running. You will be a team player with excellent organisational, time-management and project-management skills. You will have excellent attention to detail and a high standard of work presentation. You will be educated to degree level or equivalent, and demonstrate significant experience building and managing relationships with senior external and internal stakeholders.
