Job description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious project manager to lead the implementation of a cardiac improvement programme through the South London Cardiac Operational Delivery Network (ODN).
The network brings together partners across South London to drive clinically led improvements in outcomes and cost effectiveness, whilst reducing health inequalities for our populations. We are looking for a Project Manager to lead a portfolio of workstreams alongside the network manager and relevant clinical leads to develop and deliver the programme of work.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring patients have equitable, timely and, where appropriate, local access to comprehensive, high quality, clinically sustainable and financially viable cardiac services irrespective of where, when, or how, they access services.
The post holder will work closely with clinical leaders and colleagues across the network and programmes and initiatives both at local and London levels.
The Cardiac Network is hosted by Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, with an office based predominantly at St Thomas’ Hospital, working with and across all network sites in South London and potentially beyond. The team have a hybrid working arrangement, with a flexible split between working from home, in the office and spending time at provider sites.
Interviews will be held on 31 August 2023.
You will need to be able to work across a range of clinical teams and have the experience to navigate multiple organisations. You will work with the existing overarching workstreams of cardiac interventions, directing and advancing their progress towards high quality healthcare, with targeted improvement of the patient experience, quality and value for money.
The role is suitable for those with excellent project management skills and coming from an operational/clinical background wishing to broaden their experience, as well as those coming from a strategic and/or clinical network background. You should have demonstrable experience of delivering clinical pathway redesign, transformational change initiatives and have significant influencing and persuasions skills to engage with the wide range of teams and stakeholders for the programmes.
About the South London Cardiovascular Networks
The South London Cardiovascular Networks bring together partners from across South London and neighbouring Kent, Surrey, and Sussex to drive clinically-led improvements in outcomes and quality of care across patient pathways, in patient experience, and in value for money.
The Networks support integrated commissioning boards (ICBs), provider organisations, clinicians and patients by providing access to specialist resources and expertise, including objective analysis and advice on strategic change and co-commissioning. This clinical leadership enables partnership working to achieve benefits, in particular reconfiguration of pathways through prioritisation of interventions which will result in significant savings, contributing to the delivery of high quality, cost effective patient care. The elements within the Networks include the Cardiac Operational Delivery Network, the South East Vascular Network, and the South West Vascular Network. The work programmes are harmonious and interrelated, creating a streamlined, yet holistic, solution to strategic and operational improvements in cardiovascular services in South London, with reach into Kent, Surrey, and Sussex.
About the South London Cardiac ODN
Established in 2018 following an NHS England analysis of South London specialised commissioning, the ODN was tasked with accelerating improvements in care pathways, strategic procurement, inter hospital transfers and multidisciplinary team working. Since then, the ODN has expanded its work programme to encompass many clinical workstreams with cross cutting work areas. There are three main functions to the ODN, underpinned by focussing on health inequalities, population health, diversity and inclusion, and sustainability:
1. improving patient experience, redesigning end to end pathways that support patient led care;
2. improving quality, for optimal safe quality services provided in line with best practice standards; and
3. improving value for money to bridge the gap between rate of growth in service funding and allocated spend.
About the South London Office of Specialised Services
The South London Office of Specialised Services represents a collaborative approach across the two South London integrated care systems (ICSs) and the four specialist provider NHS trusts. Working together, they will remove barriers and transform care across settings.
Paramount to this work are the transformation pilots across a number of clinical areas – including cardiac, aligned to the South London Cardiac ODN.
