The Partnership & Change (P&C) Pillar supports and delivers the UK SBS Portfolio of Change, through the management of change and project, programme and portfolio management. The directorate also provides internal Business Analysis services to the organisation.
The purpose of the P&C Project Manager is to ensure the successful delivery of the change portfolio projects, utilising effective project management disciplines and management techniques to achieve this.
You will be responsible for the following:
- Responsible for the successful delivery of allocated project(s) within the UK SBS Portfolio, delivering on time, within budget and to the agreed quality, and realising the projected benefits
- Establish and maintain the appropriate project governance, set up and manage delivery teams in a matrix manner and support and coach key team members in delivering the project(s) successfullyUtilise effective project management disciplines and management techniques to ensure successful delivery, including project definition, planning and scheduling, task, risk and issue management, dependency management, change management, financial management, stakeholder management and reporting
- Agreeing plans, tasks and dependencies, identifying and escalating any major deviation from the agreed plan, and ensuring the completion of each gateway, including the deliverables, and gaining approval to start the subsequent stage
- Communicating information about the project to the organisation(s) and Stakeholder groups as necessary, ensuring that the required project resources are understood, and resolving any conflicts escalated by the project resources, client or supplier
- Agreeing the work packages tolerances for time, quality and cost, communicating overall strategic guidance for the project, and managing and escalating any risk(s) and issues associated with the project(s) within the appropriate escalation route
- Managing any quality assurance activity required for the project.
- Providing advice on direction to the Project/Programme Board; providing all the reports and lessons learned for the project(s), ensuring all post reviews are scheduled and take place to completion and resolving conflicts between project teams, service delivery teams and customers or escalating as necessary.
This role may suit someone already working in a similar environment but wanting to expand their knowledge and depth of skills or maybe you are someone looking for your next career step. Either way, if you can demonstrate the following skills and experience, we would love to hear from you:
- Good working knowledge of and experience of using Project Management frameworks, disciplines, and policies (e.g. Agile, PRINCE2 or PRINCE2 Agile).
- Knowledge of people change management implications, techniques and practices.
- Good range of technical, business and commercial knowledge.
- Good understanding of risk management, including methods and techniques for the assessment and management of risk
- Effective negotiation and influencing skills at mid-management and department level including with clients and suppliers.
- Proficient understanding of Stakeholder management tools and techniques.
- Proven experience of leading change through the full project lifecycle.
In return for your skills and experience we can offer you flexible and remote working options for a 37hr week with start and finish times between 8am – 6pm. Our team usually work from home and come into the office once a week, but we are flexible on this too. If it helps, there is even flexibility on which office you base yourself from – Swindon or Newport.
