Role responsibilities

The Senior Project Manager role will deliver complex commercially focused, transport related change projects to improve transport services, operational efficiency and profitability in line with Welsh Government (WG) transport policy and strategy.

· Lead complex commercially focused transport related projects through the application of robust project lifecycle methodologies (such as APM or PRINCE 2), implementation of project plans and efficient resource management to ensure attainment of key milestones and completion of projects to time, cost and quality.

· Provide professional and effective project governance through project reporting, facilitation and chairing of technical working groups and executive steering groups in accordance with the required processes and timelines to ensure the projects are managed and communicated effectively.

· Manage and lead project teams by collaborating with colleagues, consultants and contractors to ensure projects meet delivery outcomes.

· Act as the ‘Sponsor Agent’ by being the interface between the sponsor and the project, helping to define scope, providing instruction to the delivery team and providing any clarification needed. Ensuring the organisation and sponsor are kept informed of progress, that the project remains visible through effective reporting and that there are no surprises.

Who we’re looking for

  • Project management qualification such as APM or PRINCE2 or similar.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering complex change in the transport sector at a senior level.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations in support of a strong safety culture.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing a budget, including forecasting and monitoring spend.

The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role.

· Arwain prosiectau cymhleth sy’n ymwneud â thrafnidiaeth ac sydd â ffocws masnachol drwy ddefnyddio methodolegau cylch bywyd prosiect cadarn (fel APM neu PRINCE 2), rhoi cynlluniau prosiect ar waith a rheoli adnoddau’n effeithlon i sicrhau bod cerrig milltir allweddol yn cael eu cyflawni a bod prosiectau’n cael eu cwblhau yn unol â’r amserlen, y gyllideb a’r ansawdd a ddisgwylir.
