Building Service Project Manager - National travel
We are looking for an experienced Building Services Project Manager to join the critical care division of our business. This role will include attending client sites on a national basis.
Working within hospital settings, the critical care division at VtV Solutions undertake projects that require surveying of client sites, developing the concept and design including all proposed builders works, structural modifications, and making good works. Planning consent and client liaison is critical in this role as we work to minimise the effects on theatres and planned procedures. VtV Solutions is part of the Thermatic Group of companies.
This is a hybrid role that will require a blend of on-site presence, remote follow up, and office work. You will deliver projects of specialist ventilation installations alongside our technical team.
A general project within this division requires surveying a client site, developing the concept design including all proposed builders works, structural modifications, and making good works. Planning consent and client liaison is critical in this role as we work to minimise the effects on operating theatres and planned procedures.
To be successful in this role, you will have a bias in Building Services working specifically within the critical care arena.
Essential attributes include:
- Higher Level qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related trade field experience. Min 5 years experience in similar role
- Proven experience as a Construction/Project Manager or similar in a main contracting environment, managing subcontractors, and stakeholders
- Experience working within the confines of CDM as Principal contractor
- Experience estimating the ability to QS your own projects
- Ability to monitor progress, identify root cause programme issues and resolve site issues timely
- Familiarity with construction materials, equipment, systems and installation techniques preferable general builders works and structural modifications
- A working knowledge of MEP systems
- Excellent organisational and time management skills to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
- Effective communication and negotiation skills to collaborate with various site stakeholders.
- Proficient in using Project Management software, spreadsheets, and other relevant tools – preferably – MS Projects.
- Attention to detail, with a focus on quality and accuracy.
- Ability to escalate and manage quickly and effectively.

Desirable attributes include:
- Familiar with HTM 0301
- Familiar with IPS/UPS, Surgical operating lights, and medical gas systems
- Experience with CAD creation and drawing modification

Hours & Location of Work:
- Main location - This is a hybrid role requiring work on client sites and office work based at our head office in Salford, Manchester.
- Regular hours of work - Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm - 40 hour working week. Expect longer days and occasional weekend or night work where client needs dictate.
Main responsibilities include:
Site Management
- Responsible for ensuring company H&S compliance on site.
- Be directly responsible for the day to day running on site of the project
- Responsible for attending any co-ordination / site meetings that are required to execute the works.
Inventory Control
- Develop and implement efficient project plans to ensure the timely delivery of materials and equipment for the project works. Liaison will be required with subcontractors, other site stakeholders, logistic providers and transport companies.
- Implement inventory control procedure to reduce waste, minimise storage costs, and maximise efficiency.
- Ensure that regulatory H&S inspections are completed and recorded in a filing structure.
Project Management
- Writing Risk Assessment Method Statements
- Collaborate with other site contracts managers, project managers, site managers and other stakeholders to define package scopes, specifications, and programmes.
- Make accurate records of site progress – provide a weekly report to contracts manager.
- Ensure works are progressed to programme to prevent delays to follow on package trades.
- Ensure that escalation management process is followed on immediate basis if and when required.
Quality and compliance
- Ensure that the quality and compliance inspection test plan is implemented on site.
- Ensure that an inspection process is implemented and completed on site with Clients Technical advisor, and that records are kept and maintained of inspections completed prior to closing up of walls / steelwork.
- Ensuring that Quality management risk is managed with supply chain subcontractors.
- Stay updated with industry regulations, codes and standards, ensuring compliance in all package-related activities.
