Job description
You’ll manage projects in the Space business contributing to the ambitious growth of Thales Alenia Space UK. You’ll provide direction and leadership to your teams to develop and deliver flight units or subsystems and to run studies or phase A projects for the Agencies (mainly UK Space Agency or European Space Agency).
Working closely with our transnational program teams, you’ll ensure closure of design engineering activities, production and testing to ensure a smooth transition through the bid stage, into the production phase and post-delivery assistance. The order of magnitude of the business that you will run is of several millions of pounds.
Day to day your role will include:
Developing the relationships and managing the interface with the Customer (another TAS entity or an external Company ), the Prime (normally UKSA or ESA) and internal stakeholders.
Providing leadership and strategic vision to the project team
Reviewing and committing to project baselines, consolidating the schedule, and driving commitment to delivery dates
Managing the costs, forecasts, risks, and opportunities of the project
Providing consistent and accurate project reporting to both internal and external partners
Identifying when support is needed for the team and obtaining it from the organization
What we’re looking for from you:
Proven track record of successfully leading delivery of projects in either the space industry or a similarly complex industry (eg. Defence or aerospace)
Experience of product development life cycle, and managing development/ delivery of new products
Ability to manage complex project teams and organisational structures consisting of suppliers, external agencies, customers, other company entities
Ideally, some experience of working with space agencies like the ESA, UKSA, or other country space agencies
Ideally an engineering or product development background

You will need to be a strong communicator and able to develop relationships with key customers and suppliers.
Location: Mainly in Bristol and occasionally in Harwell (Oxfordshire)
