Overview
The Project Manager – NATO is at the center of the NATO Support and Procurement Policy (NSPA) and other NATO Country projects interfacing with the external customer at NSPA and End User Countries and all internal stakeholders for NSPA and other NATO awarded contracts. The individual will manage the master schedule for satisfying individual member country requirements and orders, work with production to priorities, satisfy, track and deliver against the framework delivery requirements and ensure that customer satisfaction is achieved. Galvion is currently developing their PMO office, and the incumbent will be involved in further developing best practices, processes, documents and templates particularly for the satisfaction of high volume, multilayer framework contracts.
This role will be the conduit between the customer, member country Point of Contact (POC) and internal and partner Delivery Managers at industrialization. As such, the incumbent must ensure a seamless transition, in the eyes of the end user customer between these stakeholders.
SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
People:
- Proactively manage all aspects of delivery planning, execution, and hand over to the customer (as required).
- Collaborate with engineers and product managers to pursue agreed upon objectives while tracking, prioritizing and communicating top issues.
- Serve as a mediator between external customers, NSPA and the internal and partner project team(s).
- Identify and engage stakeholders as appropriate
- Establish and build relationships with NATO customer stakeholders
- Attend industry days, government working groups, cross functional teams, customer events, etc. in an externally facing role in support of Armor projects/programs. Extract and communicate pertinent technical and industry information.
- Facilitate efficient team meetings.
Process:
- Understand, quantify, and mitigate the impacts of scope change
- Understand internal project deliverables and documentation. Develop and implement a plan to ensure all deliverables are met.
- Tailor and present information to allow informed decision making (both technical and programmatic).
- Facilitate transition from understanding of end-user requirements to a formal system requirements document where deviations from standard product are scoped.
- Support the business development and sales teams as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
Performance:
- Be a subject matter expert on the products offered through your program
- Have intimate knowledge of all the functionalities of the products in order to provide in-depth on-site training to purchasing nations either directly to troops or in a “train the trainer” fashion
- Perceive business and upselling opportunities & pull in Capture/BD teams as required to maximize leverage with NSPA
- Have an in depth understanding of the NSPA contractual requirements and delivery priorities; negotiate delivery window to meet customer expectations
- Be enthusiastic about supporting internal projects and senior leadership, bringing order and efficiency to critical internal initiatives to improve contract delivery.
- Constantly assess internal workflows and processes for opportunities to improve efficiency or reduce risk. Proactively make recommendations and participate in cross-functional teams to address opportunities.
- Support the development of the PMO through recommendations and development of supporting processes, templates and documents.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or equivalent combination of experience and education
- 1 to 3 years of experience in project management
- Preferably APMP (PMI) certified or working towards APM (PMI) certification
- Military experience in unit level equipment training and management
- Logical and rigorous thinker, with experience integrating new information rapidly, comprehending large amounts of information, drawing conclusions, and clearly communicating key findings preferred
- Intellectual flexibility, curiosity, and willingness to learn
- Eloquent and charismatic
- Demonstrated excellence in leading cross-functional teams and managing product development project for manufactured products.
- Demonstrated experience working with United States, Canada, NATO and other international customers
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to discuss complex subjects in an intelligible manner
- Grasp of Lean Manufacturing concepts, a plus
- Good written and communication skills, and general knowledge of NATO procurement frameworks, national procurement systems and user requirements.
- Demonstrated negotiating experience.
- Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Project, Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required
- Good listener
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a shifting landscape
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to speak French advantageous
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Office base and occasional manufacturing environment.
- 40% travel may be required between Galvion and partner facilities, NSPA customers, and end users.
- Ability to travel internationally, must have valid passport
