The opportunity
As part of EY Technology Services, your work will span the full product lifecycle, from design through engineering, product management, deployment, and testing, to support, user experience and architecture across several areas.
The role requires mastery of the technical knowledge of project management inter-related process stages i.e., initiate, plan, execute, monitor and control and close, and the supporting processes e.g. scope, cost, time, issue, risk, resource, communication, stakeholder management.
A project manager is responsible for delivering IT projects to schedule, budget, and quality. Also, the project manager must have excellent stakeholder relationship management skills to successfully lead and manage the project team and project stakeholders, and have expertise recognized and requested by customers.
Your key responsibilities
Monitoring and managing project baseline to ensure activities are occurring as planned in terms of scope, budget & schedule while managing variances. Proactively identifying risks and issues on projects and potential points of contention for missed deliverables. As a project manager you will be responsible for creating and implementing strategy to mitigate shortfalls in timeline and budget and demonstrate business analytics skills to manage and meet sponsor and customer needs.
Skills and attributes for success
Mastery of Project Management Skills (includes Risk Management, Issue Management, Stakeholder management, Quality Management, Project Planning, Schedule Development, Scope Management and Cost Management)- Mature Leadership Skills when it relates to strategy, Risk Management, problem solving, Team Management, inter-personal relationships, negotiation and Communication Management
- Advanced level experience using MS Project and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- IT background with experience across the systems development life cycle with experience in all project phases – plan, initiate, elaborate, design, build, test, implement
- Must have analytical and problem-solving skills to manage multiple factors on a project anticipating problems before they occur, defining the problem or risk, identifying possible causes and implementing the most appropriate solution
- Strong team working skills across matrixed client, supplier, and geographically dispersed virtual teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills – must be able to communicate fluently in English both verbally and in writing and interpersonal skills (include negotiation)
- Management skills to manage one or more large, complex projects simultaneously
To qualify for the role, you must have
Proven experience of managing large IT infrastructure projects with personal accountability for delivering to time and cost- Proficient in project management methodology, tools, and templates (includes project planning, schedule development, scope management and cost management)
- Strong leadership abilities and people skills
- 10 to 15 years of experience in a corporate IT environment and 8 to 10 years of experience in project management
- Experienced in using offshore resources
Ideally, you’ll also have
Strong experience in deployment of IT infrastructure: network (wired & wireless), printing, telephony and AV equipment- Project management certification is preferred (PMP, PRINCE2)
- Familiarity with ITIL would be advantageous
