Opportunity…
We have an exciting opportunity within the Project Management function, where we are recruiting for a Lead Project Manager in the Equipment Programme. You will be joining a great team of Project and Assistant Project Managers.
<span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">As the Lead Project Manager, you will be responsible for the direction and leadership of your team of Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers. This will support the Senior Project Manager in delivering the integrated scope of work assigned to their sub-area within the overall Project schedule.
The Hinkley Point C Equipment Programme is responsible for delivering the bulk of the mechanical, electrical and process equipment that will form the working power station. The contracts may be for discrete components or complete systems and will be delivered in partnership with NNB’s global supply chain. Contracts range from £250k to £150m. Input design is completed by the EDF Responsible Designer, with the detail design completed by the equipment supplier.

What you’ll be doing…
<span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">You will directly report to the Senior Project Manager, and as this is a leadership position within the Area Delivery organisation. Your role will include,
- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">Reporting to the Senior Project Manager and support them in the delivery of the overall delivery area to the HPC schedule.
- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">Apply a project management approach to activities relating to design principles and system design which are undertaken by the Responsible Designer.
- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">Apply project management principles to aspects of work that include detailed design, manufacturing, and construction
- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">Responsible for the integration and delivery of a specific set of activities to time, cost, safety, and quality. These are likely to include the day to day management of specific contracts and the L3, L4 schedule (Detailed Control Schedules) which provide detailed weekly and monthly work execution sequences. The Level 3 and 4 schedules are utilised by external organisations responsible for work execution to better define logistic sequencing and internal organisational hand-offs.
- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">Leadership is a key element of your role, as you will be required to establish and lead diverse multi-disciplinary teams to deliver activities within their sub-area responsibility.
- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">Key resources will need to be identified, requested and clear roles and responsibilities will need to be communicated.
- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">Responsible for setting up and managing a near term work plan to drive the delivery of work on a week by week basis, setting up and compliance with a budget for their areas of activity; development and operation of a risk log– challenging any increase in costs and developing options to reduce cost, establishing and managing the interfaces between their work scope and the work of the other project managers, setting up and operating the quality plan and the change control for their contracts.
- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">Facilitate interfaces between PM/APM and Engineering teams in France as well as other HPC key stakeholders
- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">Share lessons learnt and adapt processes accordingly
- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">You will manage portfolio of contracts related to the design, manufacture and delivery of tanks and filters.
Who you are…
Track record of delivering projects within a technically complex and dynamic environment whilst ensuring high levels of safety, security and environmental responsibility, ideally within the Nuclear Energy sector or similar regulated environment- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Project Management. Be capable to manage portfolio of contracts and demonstrate leadership skills.
- Demonstrate success in managing / developing
- Engineering design, contract and field execution strategies for project delivery,
- Multi-discipline EPCM projects,
- Procurement and management of complex contracts,
- Control of costs; risk; schedule and change and proficient in the use of Earned Value tools,
- Close out of commercial claims and the associated negotiations.
- Experience of successfully engaging groups of stakeholders and have resilience to overcome challenges.
- Able to demonstrate strong numerical and analytical skills, along with management skills including project management, financial management, change management and facilitation. Proficient in the use of estimating scheduling, programming and risk tools.
- Experience of managing contractors, consultants and other advisors throughout large and complex construction projects, in a regulated environment. Including NEC or FIDIC contracts.
- Good presentation, influencing and facilitation skills. Excellent communication and organisational skills, able to develop relationships and maintain effective networks.
- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">Detailed understanding of PWR design and experience in PWR operations advantageous but not essential.
- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">Degree and chartered status in an engineering, construction, physics or other related field.
- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">Good knowledge of CDM Regulations.
- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">Knowledge and / or practitioner of Project Management with experience of applying either; APM body of knowledge & OGC's Prince 2.
- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">Understanding the needs of nuclear quality and how nuclear quality is assured and controlled.
- <span 45="" frutiger="" light="" lt="">Working knowledge of French language an advantage.
