An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Project and Change Hub at Derby City Council.
You will support Derby City Council’s Delivery Portfolio, specifically the Demand and Insight Programme. You could manage up to four change projects which support the Council Plan.
We are looking for experienced candidates who can think strategically, work collaboratively with Senior Responsible Officers (SRO), and stakeholders to develop high class business cases to drive evidence-based benefits and outcomes.
Specific Duties and key accountabilities include:
  • Managing complex transformation / innovation / budget reduction projects across the Council from initiation to completion, including maintaining project plans and documentation, risk and budget monitoring, resource planning, communication, benefits realisation, stakeholder engagement and post-project evaluation.
  • Co-ordinate cross-functional project teams, potentially including staff from other departments, external contractors and consultants, suppliers, and other third parties, to achieve the objectives of assigned projects.
  • Ensure relevant parties are regularly updated on progress, producing key formal documents to enable decision making and ensuring that any concerns are escalated to the SRO at an early stage.
  • Support with facilitating service improvement by reviewing business processes and systems and encouraging maximum use of technology to deliver improved, efficient services.
Essential Criteria:
  • Considerable experience of managing projects in accordance with agreed project management principles.
  • Experience of working in a consultative role with Directors and senior managers
  • Prince 2 Foundation and / or Practitioner, Project Management. qualification or have substantial project management experience.
  • Experience with developing business cases and identifying and realising project benefits, maintaining support throughout concept to completion.
  • Experience working with a Programme Management Office (PMO) and taking projects through approval gateways.
