Project Manager
£50,000 - £55,000 plus excellent benefits, including up to 10% employer pension contributions and private healthcare (Work Level 5)
Manchester City Centre
We’re now working in a hybrid way, with colleagues dividing their time between home/remote working and the office. In this role, you’ll be required to travel into our Manchester head office at least once per week. You can find out more about our hybrid working policy at colleagues.coop.co.uk/hybrid-working-policy

We’re looking for a project manager to join us at Co-op and help to deliver big transformation projects across our organisation. You’ll work with colleagues and teams all over Co-op to make sure everything is in the right place at the right time.

As a project manager, you’ll work on exiting initiatives that span the length and breadth of the business. If you have the project management experience and the excellent relationship building skills that we’re looking for, we can offer you the opportunity to have a positive impact on the way we do business for our members, customers, and communities.

What you’ll do

  • carry out end-to-end management of a number of large-scale business projects
  • support the project management community by providing leadership, coaching, and training
  • undertake risk management for all projects, highlighting and reporting any potential risks
  • make sure plans are robust and changes are delivered to a high standard
  • engage with the project and programme leads, communicating updates, issues, and risks to senior leaders and the exec team
  • manage and build relationships across the wider business
  • lead improvement initiatives to benefit the service provided by the project management practice

This role would suit people who have

  • previous project management experience, managing end-to-end, complex business change and transformation projects
  • excellent relationship-building and transformation skills
  • an awareness of multiple methodologies and some experience in project delivery
  • the ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities
  • the ability to lead diverse teams on a matrix management basis
  • an industry recognised project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2) would be beneficial

Why Co-op?

Here you will do work that matters. We are a commercial organisation with a purpose beyond profit, and you’ll have an opportunity to help us build a stronger Co-op and stronger communities. You’ll also get a package that includes…

  • competitive salary
  • private healthcare
  • coaching, training, and support to help you develop
  • pension with up to 10% employer contributions
  • annual incentive scheme
  • Wagestream – a money management app that gives you access to a percentage of your pay as you earn it
  • 28 days holiday (rising to 32 in line with service) plus bank holidays
  • YuLife - an app that rewards you for exercising with discounts and vouchers for many of the UK’s biggest brands
  • discounts on Co-op products and services

Building an inclusive work environment

We’re actively building diverse teams and we welcome applications from everyone. We want to build inclusive work environments, where our colleagues have equal opportunities to reach their full potential. We celebrate our differences, and recognise the importance of our teams reflecting the communities they serve.

We'll ask whether you’d like to be considered under the Disability Confident scheme when you apply.
