Job description
I am working with a vastly growing Medical software product company in Edinburgh who are looking to recruit an experienced Software Project Manager.
The company:
The company are over 10 years old and have recently grown from 40 individuals to around 100, with around another 40 heads due to be added this year. They operate within the tech-for-good software space and are responsible for creating a very specific product used in the healthcare industry.
Recently, the product has taken off and there is a great amount of interest in the company, from both a client perspective and investment. The business is therefore adding at least one new Software Project Manager in order to cope with this growth.
The product function already has a Head of Delivery and VP of Product I place, and you will work very closely with the software development teams (one in particular). You will join this ever-growing function as the work ramps up. In terms of flexibility, the company ask for someone to be in office at least during sprint cycles (couple of days a fortnight), but there is obviously the ability to come into the Edinburgh office as much as you'd like.
The role:
This is a fairly typical Software Project Manager role. You will be responsible for managing end-to-end technical delivery projects through effective estimation and planning, management of resources, leading stand-ups and retrospectives, risk mitigation strategies and measuring team performance.
You will work closely alongside the Product Managers, Product Owners and Business Analyst's to shape and deliver technology solutions across the business. The Product function is separate for the team you work in and they are responsible for the product roadmap. It would also be ideal if you can demonstrate expertise in managing software development projects using Waterfall and Agile methodologies, as these are predominantly what they use. I would stress that this person doesn't have to come from a technical software background (there is enough strength for this in the current team), but more so experience of managing the full, end-to-end software delivery lifecycle.
Your background:
** Strong software delivery experience and project management
** Ideally strong Waterfall, Agile and Scrum knowledge
** Background in large, enterprise software solutions
** Ability to manage daily Scrum ceremonies (bonus)
** Background in a senior Software Delivery role, working for a software or technology/product company
** End to end software delivery
** Experience in making sure releases are out on time and supporting custom builds, making sure they are on time and on budget
This is an opportunity to work with a thriving and employee-first organisation. You will get to work on some largescale projects and with some huge organisations, whilst leading and working alongside some very bright minds.
