An exciting opportunity has become available with our prestigious client who is a prominent government department. The client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their welcoming team.


The Project Manager Role:

  • Takes full responsibility, reporting into an accountable project sponsor, for the definition, approach, facilitation, and satisfactory completion of a range of projects at varying scale and complexity
  • Establishes realistic project plans (including scope, schedule, quality, risk, and communication plans) and tracks these, ensuring all stakeholder involvement is clear
  • Monitor costs, time, quality, and resources used and act where performance deviates from agreed tolerances
  • Ensure related governance (e.g., procurement timelines, change control, council governance, data protection, security accreditation) is factored into all project work being undertaken to minimise any risks
  • Work closely with the Business Analyst and Senior Business Analyst to ensure there are documented clear deliverables and/or expectations for projects that are agreed with stakeholders
  • Manage the escalations required when projects run beyond agreed tolerances, escalating to the Programme Delivery Manager, ICT & Digital Management Team, CDIO or others as required
  • Negotiate with stakeholders to agree the right level of funding and people resource to ensure the outcomes of any project are achievable
  • Support the Programme Delivery Manager by engaging with the wider portfolio governance of the ICT & Digital Team as well as the council’s central portfolio management processes
  • Support the Data Reporting Officer in regular reporting around all projects being undertaken so that senior leaders can be assured of progress against plan
  • Be responsible for agreeing and tracking project budgets, carrying out reviews and evaluations as required and presenting updates and findings to project sponsors and/or project boards
  • Ensure all projects have agreed standards for functional and user acceptance testing and are only accepted into live service if these are met
  • Be responsible for ensuring there is a transition to live approach for all projects to ensure there are clear responsibilities for the whole life of any new product or service and that it can be supported and ultimately, decommissioned effectively

The Project Manager Will Need:

  • Qualification in Project Management (Prince 2, MSP, MoP, Agile, SCRUM Master)
  • ITIL Qualification
  • Strong experience in ICT/Digital Project Management/Leadership
  • Risk Management
  • Analytical Skills
  • Experience building Business Cases
  • Waterfall/Agile Experience
