We are passionate about cyber security and protecting BT Group from the ever increasing threats to our business. The broader team within which this role sits manage a set of Group-wide security transformation programmes. The role itself forms part of the team responsible for managing BT’s response to the Telecoms (Security) Act 2021 Code of Practice and activities associated with industry and government liaison related to security.
Achieving the team’s objectives is fundamental to BT’s brand and reputation, and underpins all BT’s public products and services. It underpins the fast growing security business. As a global telecommunications carrier and provider of UK Critical National Infrastructure, this role contributes to ensuring BT meets its regulatory obligations within the UK.

The role can be based in any of the following locations: Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham, London, Belfast, Ipswich, Bletchley, Glasgow

What I’ll be doing – your accountabilities
  • Responsible for managing the delivery of the formal BT responses to Ofcom information requests related to the Telecoms (Security) Act Code of Practice.
  • Set-up and management of project governance, scoping, risk and issue management, resource planning and progress reporting.
  • Identification and management of the virtual team required to effectively and efficiently deliver the formal responses back to Ofcom.
  • Provision of project management support to the security strategy transformation theme focused on industry and government liaison, including liaison with the overarching Security Transformation Board.
  • Working collaboratively across BT Group in order to ensure that required outcomes are achieved.
  • For all constituent delivery projects, ensure key milestone commitments have agreed owners and agreed actions to deliver within timeline
  • Manages associated risks, issues, change controls.

Skills required for the job
  • Strong Project and Programme management skills
  • Highly effective inter-personal and stakeholder management skills. Excellent stakeholder management with the ability to build effective relationships and navigate across levels and functions pan-BT with ease and diplomacy, building trust and confidence.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
  • Results-orientated and natural problem solver.
  • Interest in cyber security and associated technical architectures: A basic level of knowledge in support of managing associated activities.

Experience you would be expected to have
  • Project delivery experience in a business critical environment as the lead role holder for significant projects / programmes (Mandatory)
  • Project delivery experience within a legal/regulatory context (Desirable)
  • Competent user of standard project management tools - Office365, Project, Jira etc. (Mandatory)
  • Degree or equivalent qualification/experience (Mandatory)
  • Cyber security technical knowledge (Desirable)
  • Familiar with, but not necessarily accredited in, a formal Project Management methodology such as Prince Foundation, Six Sigma or APMP (Mandatory).
