Supporting the Project Chief Engineers and the Engineering Heads of Functions, the Engineering Project Management Officer will assist in the operational management of the engineering functions, covering a diverse range of activities that support departmental governance and contribute to the delivery of project objectives.

Key Responsibilities & Duties;
  • To contribute to project management and performance by supporting the Project Chief Engineers (PCE's) and Engineering Project Leads (EPL's) to help achieve their cost, delivery & quality objectives.
  • To communicate key data/information (e.g. KPI's, dashboards, reports, action plans, guidance documentation, presentations) to support the engineering and wider business communities.
  • To accurately analyse and interpret data to support improvement activities and aid effective decision making.
  • To simplify/standardise existing practices, proposing more effective ways of working and implementing innovative solutions where appropriate.
  • To oversee the implementation of management standards & documents across engineering projects, ensuring a consistent approach.
  • To manage and maintain resource and capacity planning for the Engineering Department, integrating inputs from multiple functions as well as the wider business and group.
  • To liaise with the HR Business Partner for any new recruitment – Permanent and Contract.
  • To support and coach engineering teams on management tools & processes and Safran reference systems, addressing/reporting any irregularities.
  • To lead improvement activities, develop action plans and facilitate meetings/group discussions.
  • To provide support to One Safran processes and events and conduct benchmarking activities against group standards.
  • To make recommendations to ensure continuous process improvement and the deployment of best practices, creating a culture of learning and good practice.


Job requirements

Project management experience/qualification (awareness of planning/scheduling, technical & financial aspects, risks)
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially EXCEL
Experience of data management, analysis and the preparation of reports & presentations
Knowledge of problem solving techniques and continuous improvement methods
Communication - able to communicate messages clearly to a range of audiences at all levels, both verbally and in writing
Self-motivated – able to use initiative and maintain a high level of productivity with minimum direction
Analytical – able to synthesise information paying close attention to detail, accuracy and completeness
Planning and Organising – able to plan, set priorities and consistently achieve deadlines
Change Management – able to embrace change and propose more effective ways of working
Problem solving - able to manipulate and interpret information from a range of sources, to identify patterns and trends and conduct root cause analysis. Can generate & evaluate a range of creative solutions and choose the most appropriate option.
Collaboration – able to interact with people effectively, facilitate meetings/group discussions and build & maintain productive relationships.

Specificity of the job

The role is based in Cwmbran, Wales. Infrequent travel may be required including to international locations (suppliers, customers, other Safran sites) to perform, for example, benchmarking activities.
