Role Overview
The aim of this role is to create a centralized and coordinated project management information hub within the organization for the purpose of providing governance across all projects, setting and maintaining project management standards, and collecting and reporting on project information to support strategic decision making, feedback and improvements.
This role will be instrumental in setting up the company’s new Project Management Office and it will be the first hire into this function. This will therefore be a hands-on and varied role from the offset.
This role has a keen focus on project governance and standards, resource management and risk management, as well as being a central source of truth for all projects.
Responsibilities
- Define, maintain and ensure project management standards across the organization
- Provide support, guidance and best practice to our delivery teams, project leads and product managers, including training on techniques, methodologies and best practice
- Provide insight and feedback to project leads and heads of department to create efficiencies and improvements within the project management process
- Collate project information and documentation across all projects and report on key metrics, including time, cost and quality, as well as risks and issues to the senior leadership team
- Maintain and report on a centralised risk register
- Lead on resource management by providing all necessary information and input, including project data, insights and recommendations to enable effective resource allocation
- Review and monitor resourcing decision, recommending adjustments as and when required
- Collaborate with the management teams to forecast and map resourcing requirements
- Take ownership and oversight of project budgets, feeding into the billing process
- Provide information on project trends to senior leadership for the purpose of strategic decision making and/or to foster immediate or future projects improvements, providing guidance and recommendations where possible
- As and when required on an ad hoc basis, support the project planning process, where needed
- Create project archives, tools and templates, and guide the proper use and adoption of the company’s project management software
- Streamline and/or integrate the different project management tools used for different types of projects and purposes
- Evangelize the benefits of project management and contribute to building a common project culture
Requirements
- Project management qualification
- Knowledge and experience of multiple forms of project management, including waterfall and agile methodologies
- 5+ years of experience gained within either consultancy or technology/software development industries
- Ability to focus on both the detail and the bigger picture
- Attitude of ‘no task too big or too small’ i.e. possesses the ability and willingness to be involved in both high level strategic impact tasks as well as the smaller, but equally important, administrative tasks associated with this function
- Ability to deliver and maintain standards in response to changing priorities and be calm under pressure, accommodating changes as required. Comfortable in developing and maintaining a suite of project documents, supporting meetings, and working well with a broad range of colleagues.
