Salary: £57,500 - £62,000 (Depending on Experience)

The Opportunity
Within the Global Program Management team, we understand the need for delivering projects on-time, on cost and on quality. We understand the Caterpillar culture and are uniquely positioned as an internal service provider to deliver cost effective project & change management consulting and support services to match the desired level of rigour and client project management maturity. Our methodologies are based on industry standards such as PMI, Lean, Agile, & OCM.
The requirement of this role would be to manage a team (~12 people) of Project Managers, Program Specialists & Project Coordinators. The team is expected to complete complex programs in one or more business sectors and manage programs on time and within budget, whilst meeting the requirements of the customer.
The team typically support a diverse customer base with differing program management requirements, and will often provide high-end project management services, such as portfolio resource management and cost management. Under your leadership, the team will focus on multiple programs at any one time.
As the Project Management Leader, at least 75% of this role is the leadership and management of the staff working within the team.
You will provide coaching, mentoring, and supervision for team to support them to be successful in their daily assignments and activities, ensuring that professional program management techniques and tools are used to manage programs and projects.
You will also have the opportunity to lead a small number of programs.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
Must be knowledgeable and ensure that any division or department governance processes are followed when necessary (NPI, NTI, S&OP, etc…).
Develop networks and execute a communication strategy to assist the program managers to obtain resources needed and remove roadblocks so that they can ensure the success of their team. This network will include Engineering Managers and Division Managers.
Developing new business partner relationships whilst maintaining customer satisfaction for existing business partners.
Plan and manage the budget for the team; provide a supportive work environment for the team; select, mentor, coach, and develop others.
Responsible for all personnel issues and completion of the PMP and career development processes for the staff.
Manage own development, continuously learning through experience, interpersonal and leadership skills, and understanding the customers’ needs and application of the process, as well as keeping up with technology.
Facilitate and lead process improvement initiatives related to project management processes.
Interact with people from diverse technical and cultural backgrounds, working work with the team and with contractors, hourly, salaried and management employees, suppliers, customers, and individuals working in many Caterpillar organizations.
Acknowledging and raising awareness of trade-offs between time, resources and quality, and raising the customers’ and management’s awareness of those trade-offs is essential.
Understand and define benefits of project or program to the customer.
Skills and Experience:
Candidates will have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:
Extensive project management experience (working in Portfolios, Programs or large projects)
Degree educated and/or relevant job-related experience
Experience in project management tools, such as Microsoft Project
Excellent human relation skills
Good business acumen
Proficient with all Microsoft O365 software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams
Candidates may have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:
Previous supervisory or team lead experience
Project Management Professional (PMP) or Prince2 certification
