We’re looking for a proactive and confident Project Leader to join our newly established Engineering Strategy team at Aston Martin.
Reporting into the Head of Engineering Strategy you will be responsible for creating a new collaborative way of managing projects cross-functionally. We’re dedicated to continuous improvement at Aston Martin and this exciting new role will be pivotal in driving this by bringing together all relevant departments on non-vehicle activities. From product planning through to cost, quality and delivery you will liaise with all engineering teams to define long term requirements for cycle plans and contribute significantly to internal Make Vs Buy decisions. As this is a new role and a new approach to project delivery at Aston Martin it is imperative you are able to hit the ground running; forming strong relationships and confidently embedding your newly created process.
This role would suit an experienced project manager ideally from an automotive or related industry background. You should be data and process driven, with a passion for keeping up to date with latest approaches and new methodologies. The successful candidate will be proactive, approachable and personable; people are at the heart of what we do, so ability to communicate well across all levels of Aston Martin, including C-suite is important.
What you’ll be doing:
- Project Leadership for pre-gate7 vehicle projects, from initial conception through to project approval, including feasibility study coordination, creation / management of initial project documentation in line with the Product Creation Process, and handover to the dedicated Product Team on approval
- Strategic Engineering workstream leadership, such as technology Make vs Buy, driving selection of technology for internal development and subsequent organisation activities
- Project Leadership for cross-carline component projects, liaising with Engineering functions to develop & maintain the high-level component strategies, and running a weekly committee dedicated to reviewing position against component roadmaps
- Monitor strategic workstream activities and act on deviations to establish & recommend appropriate recovery actions
- Point of contact for cross-functional teams requesting Engineering work on un-approved (non-funded) workstreams
- Act as stand-in for Engineering Strategy Manager when required
What you’ll bring:
- Experience in Project Management
- Experience in product development environment, preferably in the automotive industry or similar
- Proven complex planning capability
- Budget development & ownership
- Strong teamwork & collaboration skillset, self-motivated & able to work with minimal supervision.
- Strategic focus
- Exercise considerable initiative/judgement in working methods & interpreting work requirements & goals
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills
- Fluent presenter to all business levels
