Job description

We have an exciting opportunity in the University of Sheffield’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) for someone with a passion for engineering research looking to use their skills in robotics and automation to make an impact on manufacturing.

You will join a vibrant team of approximately 80 engineers and researchers within Integrated Manufacturing Group, based at the AMRC’s flagship Factory 2050 facility. Factory 2050 is a £43 million facility dedicated to delivering collaborative research into digital manufacturing. It delivers cutting edge research into robotics, automation, data science, connectivity, digital twinning, manufacturing intelligence and many other areas critical for the development of the high value manufacturing sector in the UK.

  • a good degree in a relevant subject, or equivalent industrial experience.
  • a good grasp of engineering and/or scientific principles
  • a passion for engineering and research, with the curiosity and willingness to constantly learn new skills at the forefront of manufacturing technology.
  • the ability to try new and novel approaches to problem solving, and will be comfortable making decisions in the use of complex technology
The role will involve using automation and robotics equipment to solve manufacturing challenges for AMRC projects, with a real impact on UK manufacturing.
