Who We Are
Owned by the Italian Frandino Group and originally founded in the 1950s as a fruit distillery, Sedamyl has grown to become one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of wheat derivatives such as starches, sweeteners, proteins and alcohol for major food and industrial sectors worldwide. In 2012 the group expanded its international presence by opening a plant in Selby, UK.
What We Do
Sedamyl UK, uses Yorkshire-grown wheat in its production, which is purchased from a network in excess of 1,000 local farmers, so providing a valuable and sustained revenue stream. The announcement in 2021 to invest a further £80m in expanding both its distilling and liquid sweetener production, significantly boosts an already growing workforce to around 150 employees, creating in excess of 75 new jobs for the area.
What we are looking for
We are looking for a Project Engineer to support the continual growth and development of our manufacturing facility. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be actively involved in the entire lifecycle of onsite project requirements from inception, design, installation, testing and completion. You will be a highly motivated technical engineer with project management experience, with excellent organization skill and the ability to drive projects forward.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
· Coordinate the implementation of plant, equipment installation and modification ensuring minimal production impact.
· Assist engineering team to develop, update and monitor efficient system procedures, methods, and specifications to aid the smooth running of the department and the plant
· Maintain relevant files and records for all activities
· Actively anticipate/identify production related problems and plan remedial actions
· Update and monitor efficient systems procedures, methods, and specifications to aid the smooth running of the department and the plant.
· Manage projects, including developing assignments, schedules, project plans, estimation of cost, coordination of vendors, and managing the execution of projects from conception through start up and commissioning.
· Coordinate and direct the activities of the necessary resources within the plant (plant management and supervisory personnel through all departments) to ensure the safe, timely and successful completion of projects.
· Participate in the design of plant and equipment taking into account health and safety, production and environmental constrains.
· Act as point of contact for various site related projects issues, be an effective stakeholder managing and building relationships, required to facilitate and chair meetings
· Support the implementation of a computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) of all repairs, servicing, and modifications to equipment
· Undertake other duties as reasonably requested
Skills and Knowledge
· Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
· Proven experience in production/process-oriented environments.
· Industry knowledge in food and beverage processing would be considered an advantage.
· Good understanding of manufacturing equipment and related systems.
· Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, while addressing various other production equipment and system issues.

· Willingness to explore various opportunities of the role, keen to manage an array of small projects, tasks and resources as needed
· The ability to evaluate, explain and simplify complex technical issues
· Ability and willingness to work additional hours on project as required for satisfying project/production needs
· Knowledge of CDM, DSEAR (Atex), PED, Risk assessment and method statements
· Strong and concise communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Self-motivated and driven to succeed
· Very strong collaborative skills.
Working Hours & Salary
Salary depending on experience
40-hour week Monday – Friday
