EmpowerRD is a fast-growing tech startup based in London, UK. We sell to innovative businesses across the UK with a major focus on startups and scaleups that make up a significant portion of our growing customer base.

We are building a platform that supports clients in unlocking innovation rewards. Our current focus is on R&D tax credits in the UK, a £7Bn annual award that is taken up by many of the leading tech companies and innovators across all sectors. The size of incentives globally is over £100Bn a year and there is no category leader yet acting as the intermediary between this powerful source of non-dilutive funding and the world's most innovative companies. Our aim is to be the de-facto intermediary between all firms and this large pool of funding. With this role there is clear scope to join a company on track to be a category leader to create for you a powerful career narrative that will support you for years to come.

Our industry has traditionally been the preserve of professional services companies but like many industries has been ripe for digital transformation. We are trailblazing a path to become the UK leader and moving the delivery model from pure professional services to a blend of a SaaS platform backed by industry professionals.

Our new business growth has been strong and we have hundreds of existing customers who love what we do and frequently recommend us to others. We are looking to bring in an up and coming Head of Sales to take on our existing sales and sales development teams and grow them and our business to the next level. There is a clear path to take your sales career to the next level enhancing a proven playbook as we scale and expand our reach and approach within the UK market.

About the Job:

  • Manage the existing team of Business Development and Sales Development execs.
  • Support their continued growth and development as we hire and promote to build out our organisational capability to support our growth
  • Through playbook development, individual coaching and formalised training strive to create a progressive culture and a growth mindset within your team
  • Partner closely with marketing and other functions to ensure full alignment around a GTM plan.
  • Ensure rigour in territory management, prospecting, pipeline creation and closing to hit our demand generation and sales goals.
  • Use data to identify and shape opportunities in your teams and the market to help us win efficiently.
  • Bring in best practice and new ideas to keep things fresh and ensure we lead our industry forward.
  • Report to our COO and support ongoing business planning and strategy development

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Prior role experience in creating a closing business personally
  • Evidence of leadership skills that may include team leading but definitely allows you to exemplify blazing a trail in creating success and new paths forward
  • Evidence of structured learning in your career that ensures you are not only competent but that you know how to unpack and share that knowledge with your team.
  • A builder who succeeds but also builds infrastructure and processes as they go enabling an organisation to become predictable over time
  • SMB to Mid-market experience with comfort in an inside sales motion selling to multiple stakeholders (finance and tech are our buyers)
  • Awareness of the interactions between all functions in a business allowing you to support and positively engage your cross-functional colleagues to drive the best outcomes for the long term success of our business
  • Proficient with sales tools and methods and how to use them to align and move forward as a successful business unit
  • A challenger mindset, able to take what you are given but also identify new angles and unlock learning from wins and losses to help us improve.
  • Early-stage experience is a bonus. We don't have it all worked out and you will be blazing a trail and needing to build structure and clarity as you go.
  • Independent and able to self learn. We will support you every step of the way but you will be dealing with ambiguity and needing to develop new skills as you go.
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred but essentially we need smart, considered team members.
