Job Summary:
This position oversees all of client's sustainability initiatives, within the Capital Projects organization. Accountable for ensuring existing initiatives are tenable and proposed initiates are sound. The candidate provides support to Project Engineering to audit GHG calculations and analyses, with an expectation to achieve GHG goals. The candidate is responsible for ensuring projects have the necessary supporting calculations documented. Where feasible, the candidate can assist with improved project designs via sustainability enhancements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop methodologies to assess the viability or success of sustainability initiatives.
- Determine how projects calculate supporting metrics related to sustainability.
- Standardize how project sustainability numbers are reported.
- Implement processes to achieve client’s overall goals by continuously improving and reducing energy intensity, CO2 emissions, water consumption, and waste generation.
- Ensure that projects have all sustainability calculations supporting Final Investment Decision (FID).
- Set vision, goals, and expectations for Capital Projects that support the client's sustainability program.
- Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of sustainability programs.
- Stay abreast of industry and regulatory standards pertaining to metrics, calculation methodologies, and reporting of information for sustainability and ESG purposes.
- Identify opportunities and make recommendations for improvement in energy reduction and emissions.
- Ensure sustainability initiatives are delivered using the Project Process (PP).
- Mentor, coach, and develop sustainability specialists and culture.
- Knowledge of domestic and international sustainability and emission governmental regulations.
- Strong organizational and project management skills to effectively balance competing priorities while adhering to deadlines.

- Facilitative leader and excellent collaboration to ensure diverse input is secured and a strategic direction is set.
- Consult extensively with internal and external SMEs, with a high degree of reliance placed on scientific interpretation and advice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate across a broad spectrum of leadership and staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Science
Experience:
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in Chemical, Manufacturing domain.
- Experience in the chemical, manufacturing plant operations required.
- Experience in oil and gas industry would be added advantage.
Skills:
- Knowledgeable in key areas including GHG accounting, GRI reporting framework, and science-based targets. Initial emphasis on Scope 1 & 2, then extending to Scope 3.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all organization levels and in situations requiring influencing, persuading, negotiating, conflict resolution, consulting, and advising.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work across multiple countries and cultures.
- Knowledge of relevant Environmental IT business tools.
- Ability to write reports, produce manuals, and prepare presentations. Must possess ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, and customers.
- Effective at collaborating with other staff members and plant personnel in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in the principles of engineering combined with knowledge of the environment to create solutions for environmental issues.
- Knowledge of GHG, energy, water, waste, and other sustainability resource metrics and KPI’s.
