Who Do We Want?
Becht’s Human Performance Group is searching for an entry-level engineer to support Learning and Development projects. This position requires a collaborative development of technical documentation and other didactic materials to improve the competency of chemical/refinery plant process operators in domestic and international projects. Some of the plant processes include Cokers, Hydrocrackers, Fluid Catalytic Cracking, Sulfur, Ethylene, Water Treatment, Steam Generation, etc.
A Learning and Development Specialist prepares operating instructions, process description manuals, how-to manuals, and other supporting documentation to communicate complex and technical information more easily. They review training materials from multiple sources and choose appropriate materials for the audience. They participate in group meetings and one-on-one sessions with subject matter experts and plant personnel to present the documents and ensure technical accuracy.
Remote work but 25% travel is required. Flexible schedule.
Salary Range: $65,000 – 75,000
Your Knowledge and Expertise:
The Learning and Development Specialist should have experience with most, if not all, of the following programs:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or Engineering Technology or experience in Learning and Development or closely associated discipline.
- Experience aligned with the job description.
- Proficient in MS Word & PowerPoint
- Skilled in Visio and/or LucidChart.
- Able to read and understand P&IDs and PFDs.
- Technical writing preferred.

- Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to identify the needs of the audience and adapt a speech/paper to their interests, and knowledge.

- Ability to show flexibility with various work assignments, with potential to manage projects or act as a team leader or mentor to other employees.

- Detail oriented and strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Able to work with all levels of employees and management within the organization.
- Strong work ethic and self-motivated.
- Comfort and ability to work within ambiguity and minimum supervision.
- Willingness and desire to travel.
