Position Summary:

- Assumes ownership with minimal guidance for generating, designing, executing, and documenting procedures. Oversees complete engineering projects, encompassing documentation, parts selection and specification, construction, debugging, installation, and (internal) customer communication. Collaborates with division management on critical technical matters.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates a commitment to safety and actively promotes a safe work environment.
- Maintains a comprehensive understanding of the company's products, processes, and machinery.
- Provides guidance to drafters, designers, and technicians assigned to projects and seeks external resources when necessary to achieve project objectives.
- Collaborates with other departments to ensure effective project coordination.
- Designs intricate processes and equipment, oversees construction, debugging, and installation, and conducts foundational research and experimentation to develop original equipment. Initiates projects for new or modified products and processes.
- Conducts visits to branch plants or vendors as needed to accomplish project goals.
- Prepares cost and schedule estimates for new or revised machinery in project proposals. Develops project plans and assumes the role of project leader, taking responsibility for all aspects of project management (budget and schedule control, status reporting, customer interaction, adherence to design objectives, etc.).
- Maintains a high level of expertise in product, process, and mechanical development, as well as project management, through external reading and participation in technical courses.
- Enhances and updates advanced computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, AutoCAD, and project management tools.
- Maintains detailed records and produces technical reports. Keeps an engineering notebook to safeguard intellectual property.
- Contributes innovative ideas for product development, process improvement, and equipment enhancement that enhance safety and provide a competitive advantage. May participate in strategic planning for business units or decision-making.
- Possesses a strong understanding of company procedures, ER&D Department procedures, and key technical personnel within the organization. May mentor and guide newly assigned engineers or designers during their orientation and initial learning phase.
- Works closely with manufacturing personnel, division managers, marketing teams, and other relevant disciplines.
- Performs additional assigned tasks as required.
Education Preferred:
- Bachelors degree in engineering or related field
Experience:
- At least 3 years related experience as or equivalent to an Engineer III
- Must have Machinist Experience
- Experience in Tool Room
- Knows how to evaluate tooling & Plastic Injection Molding Experience
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $83,000.00 per year
