Junior Project Engineer
St. Ives (Cambridgeshire) – PE27
Monday-Friday (basic 40 hours 8:00 – 16:30) – flexible hours pattern available
£26,000 – £32,000 p.a.
You will be joining a hardworking and devoted team in the manufacturing industry specialising in Security and Defence projects. Successful newly opened family run business with new workshop and professional grade facility located in St. Ives, Cambridgeshire.
Due to expansion, we are seeking a Junior Project Engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities
Assist in managing workshop team under direction of senior manager
Updating budgets and monthly project costs, including preparation of appropriate change control paperwork for senior manager.
Assist in compiling agreed project budgets and schedules. Under the direction of the senior manager, maintain a disciplined tracking and reporting regime using recognised project management techniques and tools. This will include updating project schedules and budgets to show progress and spend.
Prepare and update tracker reports regularly and project risk assessments in conjunction with the senior manager.
Take ownership to deliver the project from the very earliest stage of the project life cycle to the final handover.
Ensuring all materials are procured in a timely manner to meet client’s completion dates. This may include working with CAD software package to extract the information required.
Compile and present monthly reports to the senior management team providing updates and key risks on projects. You will be helpful and knowledgeable, taking pride in your work and be able to work with great accuracy.
Key requirements
- Able to prioritise tasks and deadlines
- Knowledge of a mechanical workshop environment and both machine and hand tools
- Understanding of metal fabrication principles and limitations
- Solid understanding of CAD principles and limitations
- Good IT skills (CAD proficient)
- The ability to read engineering drawings
- The candidate must be able to follow current H&S regulations
- Right to live and work in the UK
Desirable requirements
- Have experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
- Forklift license – current or previous
- Full UK driving license
- Vocational qualification or an equivalent level of practical experience and a recognised period of practical training would be an advantage.
- CNC programming experience
